2015
The city of San Jose, California, held a special election for city council on April 7, 2015. A runoff took place on June 23, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was January 9, 2015.
The city held the special election to fill the District 4 seat of former council member Kansen Chu, who won election to the California State Assembly in 2014.[1]
Candidates included Allen Ming Chiu, Bob Dhillon, Lan Diep, Rudy Nasol, Manh Nguyen, Khoa Nguyen, Alex Torres, Johnny Lee, Timothy Orozco and Thelma Boac. Because no candidate received a majority of the votes in the general election, the top two candidates—Manh Nguyen and Timothy Orozco—faced each other in a runoff election on June 23. Nguyen was the winner.[2][3][4]
