General: She was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 44.8 percent of the vote. She competed against Loyd Wright.

Hoesl received a B.A. in psychology from the University of Texas in 1987. She went on to earn an M.A. in psychology from Rice University in 1994 anda J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 2003.[4]

Hoesl has worked as a trial lawyer for over 10 years, handling cases regarding the following:

- fiduciary litigation
- contract disputes
- intellectual property litigation
- business divorce
