Biography

Education

Campbell received her B.S. degree (Marketing) from Milligan College and her J.D. degree from the Stetson University College of Law.[1]

Career

Campbell began her career as an assistant state attorney in the 6th Judicial Circuit. She spent three years in that position. From 2003 until her judicial election in 2012, she ran her own firm, Kimberly A. Campbell, P.A., and worked for the Law Offices of Thomas Donnelly. In 2009, she became an adjunct professor at St. Petersburg College.[1]

There are 597 judges on the Florida Circuit Court, each elected via nonpartisan elections. They serve six-year terms, after which they must run for re-election if they wish to retain their seat.[2]

The chief judge is selected by peer vote and serves in that capacity for two years.

Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must be:[2]

  • a qualified elector;
  • a state resident;
  • admitted to practice law in the state for five years; and
  • under the age of 75 (retirement at 75 is mandatory).

2012

Campbell was elected on Aug. 14, 2012, defeating Brian Battaglia with 58.9% of the vote.[3][4]
