Raised as a Navy dependent, Kim Kendall grew up on Naval Stations in places like Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Subic Bay, Philippines. Graduated from Florida State University with a Public Relations degree and worked as a FAA Air Traffic Controller, she also owned 2 dry cleaners.

Over 20 years, Kim has been advocating for her state and community.

State work includes: writing legislation, lobbying alongside the Florida Family Policy Council, serving on two State-appointed education task forces, serving as the State Education Chair for the Florida Federation of Republican Women, Chairing a statewide literacy initiative involving 150 elementary schools and bringing on board Lt. Governor Toni Jennings as the State Literacy Ambassador.

Locally, Kim was the driving force behind such initiatives like getting school children safely back on board a school bus and co-founding the St. Johns County Middle School sports program – after her county went without for 20 years.

Kim accomplished all these efforts as a private citizen on her own dime and organized other residents to achieve the needed goals for the benefit of the County and State. She cares deeply for this community and has worked tirelessly to improve it.

  • 1) INFRASTRUCTURE NEEDS: I am focused on addressing our county's needs for infrastructure as we continue to grow. We still have 56,000+ units on the books that have been approved. Knowing developers will not build all those units - we still nave around 40,000+ homes that are still coming and I am not for raising taxes. My top priority will be working on obtaining FDOT funding for our county. We are the fastest growing county in the state. And the FDOT will begin widening I-95 (from the World Golf Village exit northward) in 2025 (with a completion of 2031 due to the completion and connection of the First Coast Expressway.) I have met with several FDOT, State, County and business leaders over addressing the World Golf Village exit first.
  • 2) EDUCATION: I am passionate about expansion of workforce development. Nationally, only around 30% of all high school students will graduate from a 4-year college. That means most of our students will graduate high school and enter a career, the military or college for a short time and return home with debt and no experience. We desperately need to expand Vo-Tech classes, certifications, apprentice programs, and exposure for our students to these career paths. I have been visiting apprentice programs, such as; Electrical Alliance (Miller Electric sponsors), Bozard Ford's onsite apprentice program, First Coast Security training facility, etc. I've been working with folks like Henry Mack and Space Florida's Mike Miller on workforce dev
  • 3) AEROSPACE: As a former FAA Air Traffic Controller who worked the Space Rocket Launch Packages - I am passionate on expansion of aerospace in our state. According to Speaker Perez, I am the only person (candidate or current legislator) that has an aerospace background. We need to be deploying horizontal launches off Cecil and manufacturing small satellites in the state. We are missing out on several very large DOD contracts to other states and we need to start diversifying our focus to include NE Florida as well as beefing up the activity at the Cape. I have been meeting with several groups already, including; Space Florida, JAX Chamber, Northrop Grumman, Embry Riddle, Red Wire in Space (HQ'd in Jacksonville), St. Johns State River Colleg
I am running for State House because it is my calling. I started getting involved in community politics because of my kids and my faith - whenever I went to elected officials reference an issue (many times) I would be given a generic answer and sent on my way. I knew I could do better, and started grouping people together, doing the research, meeting with elected officials and seeing results in my community for over 20 years.

I also knew it was my calling since I was 12 years old and living on the Naval Station in

Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. We were visiting a Cuban friend of ours who stayed on the base (back during the Bay of Pigs when they closed the fence). He asked me to look at his television set. There was a large group of Cubans protesting President Ronald Reagan, and their faces were blank. Mr. Polica asked me, "Who is more passionate than picketers?" He said they were being forced to protest or they would lose their month supply of underwear or their month supply of rice. He said this is the face of communism - this is what it looks like when government gets too big and powerful. He continued telling me that I should know how important it was that I was an American with freedoms and that President Reagan was a great man.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Florida

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
