My name is Kimberly Garber Keiserman, and I have been a resident of Port Washington for over 20 years. This community is where I raised my daughters and where I have been volunteering since 2003. I started my career as a high school social studies teacher, which led me to the Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding, where I crafted resources to help teachers create inclusive classrooms. Currently, I work as a freelance consultant, developing curricula and educational tools that foster respect for religious and cultural differences. I am a commissioner on the North Hampstead Housing Authority Board, Chairwoman of the Baxter Estates Planning Board, and a board member of the Come to Believe Network. My community involvement has inspired my political organizing. As President of the Port Washington Democratic Club and a Zone Leader for the Nassau County Democratic Committee, I have demonstrated my devotion to the community and democratic values. When conman George Santos was elected to Congress, I helped lead the fight to oust him from office and restore meaningful representation to the people of our district. My history of community leadership and background in education make me the kind of candidate that will create a future that ensures a fair, welcoming, and prosperous Long Island for all.
  • If elected, I will be an unrelenting champion for women’s freedom. With reproductive rights under attack across the country, I will work to protect and strengthen care by pushing for legislation that expands access to reproductive services and medication. My endorsements from the Planned Parenthood Empire State Votes PAC and Eleanor’s Legacy are affirmations of my commitment to reproductive freedoms. I am also joining millions of New Yorkers by organizing the New York Equal Rights Amendment, which for the first time explicitly prevents government actions that curtail a person’s reproductive autonomy or access to care.
  • As an educator, I have committed much of my life to advocating for educational opportunity and excellence. As State Senator, I will always protect our children by standing up for public education and fully funding New York’s public schools. I also believe in the power of education to promote inclusivity and combat discrimination and bigotry. Standing up for education is the key to creating a prosperous Long Island for all.
  • Lowering taxes and increasing affordability is one of my top priorities. Nassau County residents already face some of the highest taxes in the state and the nation, which is why I will fight against tax hikes and to decrease the cost of living for our young people, working families, and seniors. Small businesses are essential to the success of our community, which is why I will work to strengthen opportunities for entrepreneurship in Nassau.
As a woman and mother to two daughters, I have been a longtime fighter for reproductive freedom. New York needs to be a national leader in the fight to protect women’s rights, and in the State Senate I will champion legislation that expands access to reproductive services and medication, empowers providers to offer comprehensive care, addresses pre-and post-natal needs, tackles maternal mortality issues, and guarantees rights for patients and providers.
I have a history of leadership that demonstrates my commitment to community and democratic values. When conman George Santos was elected to Congress, I helped lead the fight to oust him from office and restore meaningful representation to the people of our district. As Co-President of the Baxter’s Pond Foundation, I have worked to preserve the environmental integrity of Baxter’s Pond and Manhasset Bay, promote biodiversity, and champion local opportunities for environmental education. My Senate candidacy is shaped by my love for my community and my years of work here. As State Senator, I will push for increased funding for public schools, standing up for reproductive rights, pushing for sensible gun laws, promoting affordable communities for working families, and championing robust environmental policies to combat climate change. Long Island deserves a leader who will listen to people’s concerns and fight for their interests and values. I know that, if given the opportunity, I can be that leader. I have delivered for Long Island before and I will do it again. My goal is to create a future that reflects our shared aspirations and ensures a fair, welcoming, and prosperous Long Island for all.
For any elected official, the core responsibility is to listen to people’s concerns and fight for their interests. Being an active and engaged community leader means understanding your community’s needs and being their strongest advocate in the halls of power. That’s what I intend to do in the State Senate.
