Hi, I'm Kim Nelson and I'm running for Congress in South Carolina's 4th District. I'm from right here in the Upstate and call Greer home along with my husband David, daughters Brett and Nora, and our rescue pets Ichabod and Balto. This is our home and that's why it's so important for me to step up and fight for my family and yours.

Everyday, people are going bankrupt because they can't afford their own or their family's medical care, meanwhile, insurance and pharmaceutical companies are reporting record profits. Our environment is crumbling around us -- guaranteeing that our children will be presented with yet another insurmountable problem to solve because we weren't willing to take a stand.

Enough is enough. It's time for someone to stand up to corporate interests and fight for the working-class folks right here in the Upstate.

This isn't going to be an easy fight. It's going to require our collective energies as we knock on doors, make phone calls, register new voters, and ensure that the voices of the majority are finally heard in this district.

I'm ready to fight -- are you?

  • Healthcare is a human right and I'm ready to bring my experience in health policy and public health to Congress. Our current healthcare system doesn't work for anyone except insurance and pharmaceutical executives. People are dying because they can't afford care, and that's unacceptable to me. I will fight to decrease the cost of prescription drugs and make sure that every American has access to healthcare.
  • From our mountains to our coast, South Carolina is a place of immense natural beauty and resources. I want to preserve our home for future generations, and that means getting real on climate breakdown and holding corporations accountable for the damage they have done to our environment. If we do this right, we can also make sure that the Upstate is a leader in high-paying green energy jobs.
  • I am ready to stand up to corporations and fight for the American working class. That means making sure that corporations are paying their fair share in taxes, raising the federal minimum wage, guaranteeing paid family leave, and closing the gender-wage gap. That also means providing relief for the millions of Americans with student debt and ensuring that every American has access to affordable college education.
I am a public health professional and just finished my Masters in Public Health from the University of South Carolina. I know the healthcare industry, and I am ready to make sure every American has access to affordable healthcare.
