Kimberly Alvarenga
Kimberly Alvarenga was a candidate for the District 11 seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in California. Alvarenga was defeated in the general election on November 8, 2016.
Although elections for the San Francisco Board of Supervisors are officially nonpartisan, Alvarenga is known to be affiliated with the Democratic Party.[1]
Biography
Alvarenga graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, studied at City College of San Francisco, and obtained a B.A. in women's studies and ethnic studies from Mills College.[2][3]
As of her 2016 run for the board of supervisors, Alvarenga was the political director at Service Employees International Union Local 1021. Her professional experience also includes work as district director for California Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, organizing director for the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center, director of the economic justice and human rights program at the Women of Color Resource Center, social services coordinator for BRIDGE Housing Corporation, family and immigrant services manager for Catholic Charities CYO, and public benefits and housing legal advocate for Bay Area Legal Aid.[3]
Alvarenga and her partner, Linnette, have a son.[4]
