Kimberly Cocroft
Kimberly Cocroft is a judge of the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas General Division in Ohio. Her current term ends in 2029.
Cocroft (Nonpartisan, Democratic Party) ran for re-election for judge of the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas General Division in Ohio. Cocroft won in the general election on November 8, 2022. She advanced from the Democratic primary on May 3, 2022.
Cocroft was appointed to the court by former Governor Ted Strickland on February 25, 2009 and assumed the bench on April 6, 2009.[1] Cocroft was elected to the court in 2010 and re-elected in 2016 and 2022.

Education
Cocroft received her undergraduate degree in 1995, her master’s degree in 1997, and her J.D. in 2000 from The Ohio State University.[1]

Selection method

The 391 judges of the Ohio Courts of Common Pleas are all selected in an identical manner. Qualified individuals wishing to join the bench must participate in partisan primary elections followed by nonpartisan general elections.[3]
The chief judges of the Ohio Courts of Common Pleas are chosen by peer vote and serve for one year.[3]
Qualifications
To serve on an appellate or general jurisdiction court, a judge must be:[3]
- a district or county resident (for court of appeals and common pleas judges);
- at least six years practiced in law; and
- under the age of 70.
Under the Ohio Constitution, a judge who reaches 70 years of age may be assigned by the chief justice to active duty, receiving payment on a per-day basis in addition to whatever retirement benefits he or she is entitled to.
2010
Cocroft ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. She defeated Kim Doucher in the general election, receiving 58.13% of the vote.[4]
