Kim is known for traditional values and the fortitude to stand for those values. She is currently serving in her second term as a Governing Board Member in the Deer Valley Unified School District. In her service, her votes have been consistent to what she says and she has been a advocate for the rights of the parents to influence their children's education. Kim believes in all forms of education at the discretion of the parents. There is no one system works for all when it comes to children. She is the mother of three+ and has used multiple types of education systems for her children. From the time when the Fisher family was in the US Army with their daughter in the DOD schools to now when they are still using an ESA to homeschool their son's final education, Kim has been very involved and has a lot of first hand knowledge of the various forms of education available in Arizona. In DVUSD we have families who attend our schools and still use other forms of education because it is what is best for their children. Kim knows it is important that we provide all the support we can for these families. Kim holds a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management(Human Resources), a Master of Accounting and Finance Management, and has a standard specialized teaching certificate for K-12 CTE Business/Marketing. Six of her thirty years in administration/management were school district related. She currently is employed as a Comptroller(CFO).
  • Education is the foundation of a productive society. We must work together to ensure our kids get a solid foundation of knowledge. Reading, writing, math, science, etc…
  • Parents are the primary teacher in a child’s life. Schools must partner with the parents for success even if that means the children are served in different ways.
  • All kids deserve to be protected from agendas. Let the. Kids be kids and focus on the foundational basics needed in education.
All areas are important but we need to have policies that ensure students have a safe positive learning environment. This means they should not be subjected to topics of adults. Let them be kids because they will have a lifetime to face the adult stuff.
Not really because there not just one book. My #1 is to seek wisdom in the Bible. I am a conservative Christian, but I have read many books and been through many professional trainings. Of the personality tests I have taken I think the DISC assessment is the best because it helps an individual assess themselves and gives them strategies to communicate with others who are different. One of my favorite books is ‘Successful Leaders Aren’t Bullies’. It starts a little slow but there is some real wisdom to be found in the book considering how volatile our society has become on all sides. I believe in God and the USA. That often gets me called a white nationalist. Well so be it then but I am also Hispanic with a daughter who is more Native American than anything else so….. labels just are that and they serve no purpose so get to know me then decide on your own not based on rumors or labels.
Honesty!!! There will be some who will agree with you and some who don’t but you cannot just change what you say or believe based on who you are talking to. When you are honest you don’t have to remember a story because you are Genuine.
Remember you serve the community in the district not the district in the community. Sometimes that means you have to face the challenges of accountability and oversight, but that is the job. GOVERNANCE!! Too often board members forget that and then the community has nobody to turn to. Every other state agency will refer the public back to the Governing Board so we have a duty to hear their concerns and when needed act.
My very first job was to pester my older siblings as the youngest of five. It is a job I still have technically but now it more of a joint venture :-)
Serving the community in the district. Providing Governance and oversight to the operations of the district and ensuring the public has a voice in how it is ran.
Community, parents, kids, teachers, and staff.
Face it we are a diverse nation so we don’t need to bring in diversity. Our job is to ensure everyone has the same Opportunities.
There are many strategies we can and have used in the past. We just need a Board that is actually willing to do it.
First we need to return to following the policies and laws that are already in place. Secondly there needs to be a sound policy regarding bullying. Then we can review the others.
The 4 republican legislative districts in our area, AZ Women of Action
Students learn differently. It is our job to support the parents to partner with us for the best outcomes possible.
Poorly. The Board abdicated their responsibility and it became a dictatorship without oversight. Our parents were exiled and many still have not returned. We have work to do to reunite the community.
We need to revive our efforts to bring the community in. That means all community not just those who agree with administration. Return to having educational meetings and actually start listening to our parents and community.
The public has rights to full access to public information and that should be almost everything in a governmental entity. Nothing should be hidden.

2014

Fisher provided the following statements on her campaign page:

My goal is to rebuild the relationship between the Parents/Community and the District through responsible decision making and open communications. Children are our greatest asset. It is our responsibility to provide a solid education, in a safe environment, with highly qualified teaching professionals. All children should be afforded the opportunity to have a bright future.[5]
—Kimberly Kay Fisher's campaign website (2014)[4]
EDUCATION IMPROVEMENTS I SUPPORT:

- Building the Parent/School Partnership
- Transparency in District Activities
- Smaller Class Sizes
- Reduced Costs through Legal Compliance
- Allocation of Resources to Students - Decreased Admin Spending
- To Ensure Programs Provide Value Not Just Cost[5]

—Kimberly Kay Fisher's campaign website (2014)[4]

She also provided the following statement to the Maricopa County Education Service Agency:

I have been a parent in the Deer Valley School District for the past 18 years. In that time I have seen many changes in our district and in Arizona. I believe that children are our future and a strong education system is needed to ensure a positive future. This requires solid partnerships between community and school. Partnerships are built from trust through responsible governance within the system. I have the skills to fully understand the various challenges faced by our district. I am the mother of three, the wife to one, an accountant, and am proud to be endorsed by the Deer Valley Education Association. In 2002, I took a sabbatical to establish a habilitation program for our special needs child and returned to the workforce in December of 2006. Since that time I have completed a Bachelors in Management with a Human Resource emphasis and a Masters in Accounting and Finance, both of which were completed with top honors.

In February of this year, I accepted a position as a Corporate Trust Accountant. My prior employment has been with governmental entities including two years with a school district. In those positions, I became well versed in Arizona Revised Statutes, school finance, procurement, public records/retention, and other regulations that directly apply to the running of a school district. This experience and my education provide the foundation to understand the business that is presented to the governing board and the skills to research any new issues that may arise.

I believe that one of the first priorities of the board is to ensure the funds received are being used in the most effective way possible for students. I am a proponent of reduced administrative spending to the greatest extent possible and will support both revenue generating and cost reduction partnerships. I feel accountability and sound fiscal practices are highly important to improve the education system. My life experience has provided the strength to stand up for what is right and the compassion to understand the personal nature of school operations. I believe our board needs members who are able to engage with all stakeholders in our district and I believe I am someone who can do this.[6][5]
