I’m Kimberly McGhee — a longtime Wake County resident, business owner, activist, and community advocate. For over 30 years, I’ve worked alongside families, seniors, and neighbors to address housing, access to care, education, and community wellness. My work spans nonprofits, ministries, mental health advocacy, and senior care, always focused on turning real needs into practical solutions. I believe everyone in Wake County should thrive, no matter their ZIP code.
  • 1. Servant Leadership I am a learn-it-all leader, not a know-it-all politician. My approach is rooted in listening, learning, and working alongside residents to understand their real challenges. I believe leadership should reflect the voices of the people and be grounded in service, humility, and action.
  • 2. Boots on the Ground Connection My boots-on-the-ground work throughout Wake County has given me meaningful opportunities to serve communities while understanding and supporting residents, no matter their ZIP code. Being present in neighborhoods, with families and seniors, keeps me connected to what people truly need.
  • 3. Experience that Translates into Solutions I bring over 30 years of business leadership and community advocacy, turning lived experience into practical solutions. I know how to build partnerships, manage resources, and create programs that make government work better for the people it serves.
I’m passionate about policies that strengthen housing stability, expand access to mental health and healthcare, improve education and workforce pathways, and support seniors and families. I also want to work closely with Wake County Human Services and local nonprofits to address food insecurity and improve transit access. My focus is on practical solutions that remove barriers and help every resident thrive, regardless of ZIP code.
