Kim volunteers as Co-Chair for the Western Heritage Student Outreach Program, WHSOP, which is a component of the Cochise County Poetry and Music Gathering, CCPMG, as well as working as a Guest classroom Teacher throughout the Sierra Vista district. • I believe that an excellent, well-funded Public Education system is essential to the economic continuity of our state .
  • I believe that good social programs which support families and Veterans, are essential to the success of a community.
  • We all have a responsibility to the Earth and a responsibility to provide our children a physically healthy and aesthetically pleasing environment.
Children and Education are my passion, I am an ardent supporter of public education and an advocate for a sustainable state education budget that adequately provides the needs of professional educators and the children they serve. Support for this education begins at birth, with early childhood development being a key component to successful schooling. I also believe that the education of adults is vital to the success of our community. This includes supporting Veterans and their issues at a local level, and, acknowledging their sacrifice and importance as citizens. Good social programs are important to the success of any community, including support for Veterans, and in a country as rich as ours, no person should be living in poverty or fear, especially a child or senior. The social well-being of people in a community is intrinsically connected to a physically healthy environment, and a responsibility to the Earth that provides us resources. Therefore, I also believe that economic growth must be balanced by environmental awareness especially in an area such as ours that is dependent upon a finite source of water. I have every intention of doing my best to address these and other issues that focus on the worth of individuals and community.
Representatives are elected as voice for their constituents. This is their primary responsibility.
I was five years old and had just come home from my morning Kindergarten session. I was sitting down to a snack or lunch, and my Mother had began to do a basket of ironing. She was listening to the radio and an emergency announcement came on about a shooting in Dallas, TX. I heard my Mother make a loud exclamation of some sort, her hands flying up to her face. I remember smelling the heat of the iron as she had dropped it flat side down on the article of clothing. I asked her what was wrong. She said that o ur president had been shot. My parents were passionate Kennedy fans.
While it may be beneficial to understand the workings of government, it is definitely not a requirement to be a productive member of the state legislature. In fact, coming in to an office without political trappings might prove to be more beneficial. Being a passionate voice for the people and having a new perspective on present and past issues may be more advantageous.
Our state needs to become competitive in educational funding and recognize teachers for the professionals they are, and treat them as such. AZ also has to face the reality that water is a finite resource and take appropriate measures.
I would like to be a voice on Education, Military Affairs, and Natural Resources.
