| Collapse all
- Healthcare. People are dying simply because they don't have access. No one should lose their lives because they can't pay for care. As long as I have air in my lungs I'll fight for Medicaid expansion and increased access to healthcare for all Texans.
- Education. Education is the great equalizer but only if everyone has equal access to it. The only way to ensure access is to fund it. The way we treat teachers in this state is astonishing. We can do so much better. Texas has the money for this - we just need to prioritize education.
- Affordable living. Healthcare and education play into this. Folks are far more likely to be financially stable if they are healthy and educated. It's hard to earn money if you're too sick to work. You're more likely to land a good job with benefits if you're well educated. And it's way easier to pay the rent if you're not riddled in medical debt! I see patients everyday who have to make hard decisions about paying for prescriptions versus paying the utility bill. For far too long, this state has prioritized big business. We need to start prioritizing our citizens, not corporations.
