King County Superior Court judge runs for Washington Supreme Court
January 14, 2012
Washington: Bruce Hilyer, presiding judge for the King County Superior Court, is running for the Washington Supreme Court. He is seeking to fill the vacancy that will be left by retiring 12-year Supreme Court Judge Tom Chambers. Before his current position Hilyer served as legal counsel to Seattle Mayor Charles Royer and as King County deputy prosecutor. "Six retired State Supreme Court justices, 10 present and retired judges from the Washington State Court of Appeals, and 24 colleagues from the King County Superior Court bench" support Hilyer's Supreme Court run. Hilyer will run against former Pierce County Executive John Ladenburg, who is also aiming for the open seat on the state's high court.[1]
