Kirby Smith was a district court judge on the 3B Judicial District in North Carolina. He was appointed by Governor Bev Perdue in March 2012, after declaring his intention to run for the seat in the 2012 election. He was defeated in that election and stepped down from the court at the end of 2012.[1][2][3]

Education

Smith received his B.S. degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1987 and his J.D. degree from Wake Forest University in 1992.[4]

Smith was defeated by W. David McFayden III in the general election on November 6, 2012, receiving 28.96% of the vote.[3][2]
