|I am against ALEC legislation, but for good, decent business and business practices. I am against the high costs of medical care and educational training or university education, and support action to reduce costs and insure equitable access. I believe in progressive taxation, because the poor should pay less and the rich should pay more to support society. I believe in a fair playing field, supporting education, and the necessity of the social safety net.
I'm a former public school teacher and presently co-chair of ballot measure committee Last Tree Laws, which is working on legislation for the Precautionary Principle, independent science, and regulating technology.- Community rights and representation must be strengthened with laws to establish more rights, accountability, and transparency.
- Environmental and ecological health must be protected with new laws and rights, to protect our present and future.
- Decent jobs, opportunities, and regulation need to be created for a healthy and democratic future.
Martin Luther King, Jr., who spoke honestly not only about bringing people together against prejudice, but about poverty, inequity, and against the Vietnam War. Thomas Jefferson for the Declaration of Independence and, with other delegates, for constructing a Constitution with three branches meant to serve as checks. James Madison for being the main author of the Bill of Rights. John Muir for supporting development of national parks. Rachel Carson for exposing DDT to protect the environment. Aldo Leopald for his appreciation for ecology and preservation.
