Hello. My name is Kory Haskins. I am a 27-year-old father of one living in the Florence, SC area with my son and fiancee. I have had the luxury of living and raising my family here in this great city. While I am a newcomer to the political realm, I do believe that the people of South Carolina deserve better than what we have been given. We need to bring honesty and integrity back into our government and begin doing the work of the people. It starts with leaders who will stand up for those they swear an oath to represent and not those who will sign their morals off to the highest bidder.
  • I believe our educators are the most important part of ensuring that the youth of tomorrow know what will carry them through life. How could we not take care of the people who serve and provide for our children on a daily basis? It is in my greatest interest to pass laws that will give our teachers higher pay and greater benefits to show how much we appreciate their efforts. This is just the beginning as I am willing to take note of what our educators need and work to give them what they truly deserve.
  • The right to vote is one that our constitution bestows on everyone who meets the needed qualifications. Our right to vote is one of the main rights that is being attacked through loopholes and made-up situations that prevent our votes from being counted. Voting should ALWAYS be available to American citizens in a form that provides each and everyone the opportunity without fail. And every act passed against that is one that is designed to make it that much harder to perform our given rights as American citizens.
  • Following along with voting rights is also the right for women to choose. Ever since Roe v. Wade was overturned across the country, some women have not been able to safely make their own choices about their own bodies. The government is allowing states to pass this law as if our leaders own women’s bodies. No one should be told how they can live their lives and what they should be able to do in their own homes. Slavery and human ownership were abolished over 150 years ago. It is unfair to be taking such giant leaps backward when we have so much to accomplish ahead of us.
I am passionate about women's rights to choose, voting rights, and expanded benefits for our teachers.
My father is who I look up to the most. My mother was sick for the majority of my childhood and he showed me how to grow through difficult times and still maintain not only a love for people but also a deep love for God.
Honesty and accessibility to supporters and voters are the most important characteristics. I am willing to prove my reliability when it comes to listening to people and staying true to what I say.
I am open-minded and am always willing to hear different opinions to find the best way to compromise when everyone doesn’t agree. I have a great work ethic which means I do not take shortcuts but rather find a way to do things in a more efficient way to provide exemplary results. I am flexible, so when things go wrong (which they tend to do), I am quick on my feet and able to present a better route. I am easy to communicate with, so anyone can talk to me
To ensure the will of the people is enacted into the next session.
I want to leave a legacy of God-fearing people who will know the difficulties of life but still choose to bear those hardships to benefit the greater good of those who surround them.
The first event that has happened that I remember is the inauguration of President Barack Obama in 2009. I had just turned 11 two days before.
Nestle Tollhouse was my first job. I enjoyed the daily communication with customers as well as my manager and co-workers. I worked there until I graduated from high school.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is my favorite book because that is the first book that had an impact on my way of thinking. It showed me how history can make a mark on the future and why it is so important to pay attention to what has happened before.
If I could be any fictional character, I would be King T'Challa from Marvel’s Black Panther because he has been an inspiration to me. He shows how one could be noble as well as demand the respect that is needed at the same time, while still showing care and compassion for his people.
“We Don't Talk About Bruno” from Encanto. Not only is it a catchy song, but the music is also well-written to fit the story that is being told. When I watch the movie, Encanto, I can recite all of the words.
My biggest struggle is following the latest trend. Seeing what is currently "in'' has been a struggle for me from the beginning. I have always drifted towards being the voice of reason for my era.
I do not believe that previous experience is needed for politics. The basis of our constitution has always been “For the people, by the people.” Because I do not have any political experience yet, I am the most qualified for the position. I will be able to look past the blinders most of our leaders have put up and really know and see what our people need.
Why was Jesus allowed to join two fraternities?

Because he is Alpha and Omega!
The first bill I would introduce would be to disperse our state's excess funds to our teachers for school supplies, pay, and any other needed materials for schools to ensure the educational and social growth of students.
No it would not be bad allowing the people to have an direct vote on ballot measures for the state.
