The story of Kris Goodfellow centers on three important facts:

● Kris has a successful 25-year career as a journalist, technology professional and entrepreneur. Her deep understanding of local, state and national issues coupled with her ability to build collaboration and culture make her a skilled leader.

● Kris is a fierce competitor. From college athletics to local politics, Kris digs in and doesn't let go. Motivated by her commitment to do the right thing for the people and institutions of the Inland Empire, she will ensure positive outcomes as a state senator.

● Kris has nearly two decades of active community engagement as an Inland Empire resident and business owner. She is the next-door fundraising parent, community organizer and volunteer who makes local schools, events and government successful. Kris stands ready to commit her experience to guide the region to greater success.

Kris is the daughter of a schoolteacher and college football coach. She moved around a lot as a child and Redlands is the place that she's lived longest. Kris graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Journalism. She worked at newspapers for many years before joining Esri in 2001. Today, Kris and her husband run Voyager Search, a software company specializing in enterprise search solutions with a mapping flare. Kris has one son who is a college freshman.
  • We need more investment in education from early childhood education to college. This is the pathway to creating 21st century jobs that will provide a living wage.
  • The homeless crisis must be addressed! The state needs to replicate and fund proven programs. There are simply too many families, Vets and seniors on the streets.
  • We must aggressively address the climate crisis and it's sister issue, poor air quality. There is no time to waste!
I see our economy and education as intimately linked.  We have the 5th largest economy in the world, but we also have the highest real poverty rate in the nation. Our inland regions are lagging behind. We lack the resources that we need and the educational support that we need to transform our economy to higher paying, 21st century jobs.
Education isn't an expense, it is an investment in our future. Every dollar we spend on early childhood education and pre-K, leads to about $1.70 in future tax dollars. We want adults leading healthy and productive lives, so we need to make sure that as children they are given the education and support they need to thrive. Every child in our state deserves to have access to excellent schools and to have the opportunity to pursue higher education.
Eleanor Roosevelt is known as the longest serving first lady, but she also was a skillful diplomat and politician in her own right. She lobbied her husband on behalf of New Deal programs. She fought for anti-lynching legislation long before the civil rights movement. She pushed for the creation of the Veterans Administration to provide services for returning WWII. And she lead the crafting and the passage of the UN to pass the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, establishing a common set of standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations. She was a great leader with big ideas and an indefatigable spirit.
Honesty, integrity, perseverance, intelligence, humility and strength.
I remember being devastated when the Equal Rights Amendment failed. I think that I was 8. I couldn't understand how this could have happened. I still can't.
I worked on my grandfather's farm from the time I was very young and was a babysitter to neighborhood parents from the age of 12. But my first real job was in the mall at "Trendy's" when I was 15. I had that job until I graduated from high school.
Yes. I certainly can be. But today we have many career politicians who are skilled in staying in office, rather than making meaningful change to our society. I believe that we need people who will do the right thing for our communities rather than always taking the safe path to stay in office.
It is absolutely important to build relationship with other legislators as well as local and federal elected officials, activists and advocates. Together we can do a lot. Independently, it is difficult to get anything done.
