As a South Carolina native, my roots run deep in our great state and our community. In fact, my ancestors came to Orangeburg County in the late 1700's. My love for this red clay and cotton fields definitely comes honestly. My heart and my forever home are bound in the beauty of District 93.

I grew up in a middle class, conservative Christian home where hard work and determination was expected. My husband and I married in 1991. We have 2 beautiful daughters and 2 grandsons. We live in Elloree, SC and own a small real-estate services company.

I love people and I love serving. My husband jokes that I find a new friend wherever we go! People intrigue me. I love to hear their stories and learn about their families. The history of our area captivates me. Protecting and preserving our unique area is undeniably important.

One of my favorite Biblical verses is Ephesians 6:7, "Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people." I believe that when we truly serve people, we are serving God. A true servant's heart sees beyond the actual service and recognizes the significance of serving.

My "why" for running is to serve the people of District 93. We matter and we deserve better. We deserve honesty, transparency and accountably in the State House. I will represent the great people of District 93 with integrity and dignity, always placing your voice above my own.
  • Foundations of good governance start with people. Through open communication, accessible public records and regular community meetings, I aim to bridge the gap between government and the people I serve, ensuring that District 93 is fully informed and engaged in the legislative process.
  • Amplifying the voice of the people in the halls of the State House is imperative. Our voices are all too often drowned out by powerful lobbyists and entrenched interests. I vow to be a relentless champion for the issues that most in our community ensuring that your voice is heard and your opinions are valued.
  • Fiscal responsibility involves prudent management of finances including reducing unnecessary spending and ensuring taxes are fair and balanced. Supporting small businesses will stimulate job creation, and our economy, ultimately building a stronger revenue stream.
Protecting our families and children.

Government accountability and transparency.
Support for our first responders and veterans.

Support for educators.
My grandmother, Sally Knight Faulkner was my mentor and best friend. Affectionately known as "Granny," she died the day before my 26th birthday, September 14, 1997. Granny faced many medical challenges but never gave up. She was unbelievably kind and generous, never putting her needs first. Her bravery and determination taught me to walk through life with grace and dignity, never giving up on my dreams and aspirations. She believed in me and was my rock through think and thin. She was my biggest cheerleader and I am undeniably grateful that God gave her to me!
Honesty and integrity are vital in effective governance. All too often, our public officials become entrenched in politics and forget about people.
Fair representation, placing constituents first are key. Elected officials are bound by the oath taken to uphold our State Constitution and the Constitution of the United States of America. All to often, our officials forget who they work for, allowing outside interests to mandate their decisions.
I would like to be known as the representative who was truly for the people. The one who fought for protecting and preserving District 93. The representative who cared more about serving selflessly than padding her own pockets.
January 28, 1986, the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster. I was 14 years old and home from school with the flu. I watched the entire thing on our newly-installed cable TV and remember calling my dad at work to tell him the news. One of the astronauts was Christa McAuliffe. I was focused on her because we had the same name, spelled differently but still the same. I remember watching her board the Challenger and was in awe of her bravery.
I started teaching dance classes to preschoolers when I was 12 years old at our family-owned dance studio in Summerville SC. I made $25.00 per week.
The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood by Rebecca Wells shows us the power of love, forgiveness and acceptance while teaching us to let go of generational instability in order to find unadulterated joy in our lives.
Wonder Woman was on a mission to bring peace to the outside world and she had an awesome invisible jet!
I have a heart for preserving the family unit, children and the elderly. Watching families with young children and the elderly struggle in their daily lives weighs heavy. Children are our future and we must nurture them, instilling the importance of hard word and determination is crucial to their success and the success of our communities. The elderly worked tirelessly to build our communities, it's only fair and just to show our support and appreciation in their last years.
In order to facilitate an ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature, open and transparent communications are needed.
The state of South Carolina is under extreme growth. The challenge with this type of growth is to ensure that our vital infrastructure, i.e. roads, water systems, capabilities of our electrical system and emergency services, etc. are sound. But more importantly, maintaining our rural communities is key. We must advocate to keep our rural areas and farmlands safe from industrial growth and excessive residential density.
No, entrenched political dynasties are preventing fresh perspectives in our governing bodies. Many times this leads to unfair and unscrupulous governance. Voting in a candidate with little to no experience will bring the voice of the people to our state legislature. We must take heed that voting for policy over party and voting policy over name recognition will ultimately ensure effective representation for all.
Yes, building relationships with other legislators is key to ensuring that many ideas are brought to the table. I am firm believer in "many hands make light work" and effective problem resolution in state governance needs multiple ideas and opinions. No problem is greater than the solution, coming together collectively will facilitate solutions to the challenges our great state is facing.
Why did the duck go to the doctor? Because he choked on his QUACKER.
Transparency and accountability across all governing bodies. This would encompass all aspects of local, county, and state government, including not only our elected officials but also, appointed and hired employees. I would implement mandatory and thorough background checks as well as periodic performance evaluations for all government staff, elected, appointed or hired. Additionally, the background and performance evaluations would be public knowledge.
I am genuinely interested in all committees to ensure common-sense governance, but here are my top five.

Ethics
Legislative Oversight
Education and Public Works
Medical, Military, Public and Municipal Affairs

Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment Affairs
We, as citizens of the United States of America and the State of South Carolina should have full access to all financial documents at the federal, state, county and local levels. Full transparency is imperative to ensure that our tax dollars are being utilized appropriately. Additionally, every politician should be required to release personal financial information upon request from any constituent. This will eliminate personal interests from outside sources that could possibly sway a vote.
