Kristen Betts graduated from Springville High School. Betts received an M.A. from Kansas State University and a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Foundations from Brigham Young University. Her career experience includes working as a teacher, academic advisor, university course coordinator, and school board member.[1]

The November 4, 2014, general election in the Nebo School District featured three seats up for election. In the Precinct 2 race, incumbent Kristen Betts faced off against challenger April Clawson. In the Precinct 4 race, incumbent Rick B. Ainge ran against Larry Ballard. Both Betts and Ainge defeated their challengers and retained their seats. Incumbent Shannon M. Acor ran unopposed to retain her Precinct 5 seat.
