|- Access to affordable higher education promotes a diverse workforce, drives local economic growth, and results in safer communities. Kristen’s top priority is keeping tuition low, so cost isn’t a barrier for anyone who wants an education.
- The demand for professionals in the trades is high and growth is projected over the next ten years. Kristen will work to expand early outreach programs with area high schools to increase exposure to careers in the trades that offer great pay, good benefits and come with little to no student loan debt.
- Students at community colleges come from a variety of backgrounds and can have a diverse set of needs. Kristen supports building on current student services offered at MCC, such as mental health support, food pantry access, and bus transportation; because students have better academic outcomes and are more prepared to enter the workforce when their basic needs are met.
