Kristi DuBose is a federal judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama. She joined the court in 2005 after being nominated by President George W. Bush (R). She served as chief judge from 2017 to 2021.[1]
Early life and education
A native of Brewton, Alabama, DuBose graduated from Huntington College with her bachelor's degree in 1986 and from Emory University School of Law with her J.D. in 1989.[1]

DuBose was nominated by President George W. Bush on September 28, 2005, to a seat on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama vacated by Judge Charles Butler. The American Bar Association rated DuBose Substantial Majority Well Qualified, Minority Qualified for the nomination. Hearings on DuBose's nomination were held before the Senate Judiciary Committee on November 15, 2005, and her nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) on November 17, 2005. DuBose was confirmed on a voice vote of the U.S. Senate on December 21, 2005, and she received her commission on December 27, 2005. DuBose served as the chief judge of the district court from 2017 to 2021.[1][2][3]
