Four of the seven seats on the Salt Lake City School District school board were up for general election on November 8, 2016. There was a primary election for Precincts 1 and 5 held on June 28, 2016. In Precinct 1, incumbent Tiffany Sandberg defeated Teresa Organista in the general election after defeating John Santini in the primary election. Precinct 2 incumbent Michael Clara lost his seat to Michael Nemelka in the general election. Incumbent Heather Bennett won re-election to the Precinct 5 seat after defeating Jason Stevenson in the general election and Cathy Graham and Daniel Mcguire in the primary election. Precinct 7 incumbent Kristi Swett won re-election to her seat by defeating challenger Ryan Pleune.[1]
