The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was May 28, 2014. Kristie O'Brien was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Steve Yarbrough was unopposed in the Republican primary. Yarbrough defeated O'Brien in the general election.[2][3][4][5]
