Elections
2016
Four of the seven seats on the Greenfield School District School Board were up for at-large general election on April 5, 2016.[5] In their bids for re-election, incumbents Robert Hansen, Richard Moze, and Kristie Potter faced challengers Julie DeGaro, Andrew Misorski, and David Scherbarth.[1] Potter and DeGaro won three-year terms, and Moze and Hansen won two-year terms.[2]
Two of the four seats on the ballot were up for election to regular three-year terms. The other two seats were up for special election to two-year terms due to the death of a board member and the resignation of another.[1]
Potter and fellow board member Jim Sabinash were appointed to the board in 2015 to fill the vacancies. Potter ran for re-election as an incumbent, but Sabinash chose not to run for another term. Because of his absence in the election, at least one newcomer was guaranteed to win a seat on the board.[1]

The Greenfield Now asked the candidates in this race the following three bolded questions. Potter's responses are shown below.
“ | Why should people vote for you?
My family and I have lived in Greenfield for 13 years and are very visible in the community. Education and community service have always been my passion. Furthermore, my abilities to multitask, stay organized, be a quick thinker, and to provide solutions have helped me tremendously as a board member. What do you see as the major issues in the race? One of the major issues is familiarity with recent board decisions and discussions, especially the importance of planned technology and facilities upgrades within the district. What is the biggest need in the district, and how would you meet it? One of the biggest needs is upgrading the district's facilities to current educational adequacy standards. Through my time on the finance/facilities committee (which I hope to continue if re-elected), I have had the opportunity to review the current facilities condition report and contribute to the projected plans.[8] |
