Kristie J. Swaim is an associate judge for the 2nd Circuit Court in Adair County, Missouri.[1] She was elected to the court in 2002 and re-elected in 2006 and 2010.[2]

Swaim was re-elected to her fourth term on the 2nd Judicial Circuit Court in 2014, which expires on December 31, 2018.[3]

Education

Swaim received her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in 1990 and her J.D. degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1993.[2][5]

Career

Before she became a judge, Swaim worked as an attorney in private practice from 1993 to 2002.[2]

Noteworthy events

Threatening letters

In October 2006, Swaim received a threatening letter at her home address. The letter read, "The gates of hell will open wide. You will fall." As of 2007, the man responsible was in federal custody on six counts of sending threatening communications.[6]
