In 2010 Kristin was elected to the Leon County Commission and was subsequently reelected in 2014 and 2018 without opposition. While serving the residents of District 5 on the Commission, her main focus has been on issues related to job growth/economic development, entrepreneurs and water quality/quantity. As a member of the Innovation Park Board for more than 11 years, she led the effort to bring a high-tech incubator (North Florida Innovation Labs) to Innovation Park. When opened in 2023, NFIL is expected to generate over $20m in economic impacts for our community and create over 600 new jobs. She also spearheaded a County strategic initiative to ensure water projects are implemented holistically to protect the quality and quantity.

In 1994 Kristin began her career working in her family’s business, Mad Dog Construction. She worked throughout Florida and North Carolina on multiple building sites, culminating as the On-site Superintendent for a $4.5million student housing complex in Tallahassee. In 2006 she was promoted to Green Building Advisor and Vice President of Mad Dog Construction, and became a LEED Accredited Professional in 2007. In the Fall of 2010, days before being sworn in as a Leon County Commissioner, she left Mad Dog Construction to begin her career in public service.

  • As your next Mayor, my top priorities will be first, to grow our economy by supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs, creating new jobs and workforce training and second, ensuring City Hall is transparent and responsive to the needs of our whole community, not a select few.
  • We must end the divisiveness that has plagued our City Commission in recent years. As your next mayor, I will work to bring people together, restore trust in city hall and find creative solutions to the important issues impacting our community.
  • For twelve years I have worked to create new jobs, to support entrepreneurs and our universities and we have made substantial progress. This is why I opposed giving away nearly $27 million of our economic funds for repairs to Doak Campbell Stadium. This decision cost us 1000's of jobs and we need a mayor who knows how to grow our economy so people can find good jobs that help them afford rent, to buy a home, and to support themselves and their families.
As a three term Leon County Commissioner, I have focused on a wide range of issues including job creation, sustainable and responsible land use, environmental protection, affordable housing, and much more. I am passionate about a wide range of issues because, as a local elected official, I recognize all of these issues are interdependent and we must make decisions that benefit our whole community.
