Kristin Hoffman and her husband, a retired Army officer, have lived in Vienna for over 25 years. Both of their sons attended Fairfax County Public Schools and graduated from James Madison High School.

Kristin earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and her MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School of Business. Throughout her 30-year career, she worked in technology and finance as a program manager specializing in new product launches and initiatives.

Actively engaged in her community, Kristin serves on the board of an organization providing equine therapy to veterans, first responders, and individuals with physical and emotional disabilities. She is a job counselor at a nonprofit dedicated to helping women overcome challenges and achieve financial stability. In addition, Kristin is an energetic member of several arts and professional organizations.
  • Economic Growth

We must promote a healthy pro-jobs and pro-business environment. Property taxes, vehicle taxes, and business regulations hurt the taxpayer and endanger our property values and way of life. I will work toward eliminating the vehicle tax, capping property taxes, and curtailing business regulations. I will stand with small business owners, and I will fight every day to lower taxes and costs for every Virginian. Why? Because it’s your money and it belongs in your wallet.

Government must be held fiscally accountable.
  • Education: A Return to Merit and Standards of Excellence For Fairfax County to remain competitive, we must have quality schools where children are actually taught Math, English, and Science. Fairfax County students have suffered from learning loss and test scores have continued to plummet. It will take a coordinated effort at the state and county levels to get our students back on track. As your Delegate in Richmond, I will be your voice to return us to a merit-based system that does not discriminate against students due to race, respects parents’ rights, and provides a physically safe environment for students to learn without being bullied.
  • Public Safety As a military spouse and mother, Kristin Hoffman is a staunch supporter of Virginia’s police officers, first responders, and veterans. For Virginia to remain competitive with neighboring states, Kristin would like to explore options for expanding Virginia’s retirement programs and healthcare, to retain the most qualified police officers. Kristin also believes qualified immunity should be enforced uniformly throughout Virginia for police officers following procedures in the line of duty. Likewise, we need to provide our law enforcement with the legal tools and support to keep criminals off the streets and out of our neighborhoods.
Education. Public Safety. Free Speech. Freedom of Choice. Parental Rights. Providing a Hand-up to those in need. Protecting our seniors. Protecting people with disabilities.
Sandra Day O’Connor.

A brilliant woman who did not let others define her. She was very persistent, thoughtful, and known for researching the issues thoroughly. Early in my career around 1992, I met her at the Library of Congress’ National Demonstration Lab. She just walked in during her lunch break to ask questions about digital imaging. No airs. She simply wanted to learn all that she could about an emerging technology of the time.
“The Last Lion: Winston Spencer Churchill.” I also admire the historical works of William Manchester. Historical understanding can give one a sense of purpose, it can definitely show one the difference between right and wrong. An understanding of history can help guide us in solving problems.
Integrity. Objectivity. Curiosity. Leadership. Willingness to change course when needed. Open mindedness
Ability to analyze data, tenacious curiosity to learn, old-fashioned common sense.
Ability to analyze data, tenacious curiosity to learn, old-fashioned common sense.
I would like my children to know that I contributed to their lives and the lives of their children in a meaningful, lasting way.
The Moon Launch 7/16/1969.
I grew up outside of Orlando. My mother loaded us up into the old station wagon and drove us to Cape Canaveral to watch the launch. As children, we whined about how we had to get out of bed so early. She told us, “Get in the car! This is history in the making. You will thank me in 20 years!” On the 20th anniversary I called her to say, “Thank you!” I still get tears in my eyes when I think of my mother. She never stopped encouraging us to learn and dream.
As a teen, I worked at Wendy's Hamburgers during the summer after my sophomore year of high school. I also babysat and mowed lawns.
Hard to pick a favorite! I read a lot of different books covering various topics and genres. A recent book that I bought copies for my sons, is "How to Fly a Horse," by Kevin Ashton. It motivates us to thing creatively. I also enjoyed rereading Betty Friedan's "The Feminine Mystique." When I first read it back in high school, much of it seemed groundbreaking and controversial. Today, much is matter-of-fact. We've come a long way!
That's a tough question. There are a lot to choose from. Hermoine Granger was smart, witty, hardworking, compassionate, and brave. And let's not forget magical. With all those talents and gifts, she can change the world.
The relationship should be based on mutual respect, and a willingness to take into consideration multiple points of view. It must be a responsible partnership with checks and balances. Each must be willing to compromise at times.
Maintaining a healthy economy, educating our youth, and solving problems with common sense.
Not necessarily, otherwise our elected leaders would all be lawyers and politicians! In fact, it is important for an elected official to have had a career outside of politics, to give them a proper appreciation of their constituents’ tax dollars as well as different perspectives to solve the problems that face Virginia.
I will work to build a consensus, but my primary goal will always be to develop the best legislation for my constituents.
Ronald Reagan. His simple, yet direct communication style, was a gift that enabled him to connect with the public and gain consensus across political parties. He restored confidence in the Presidency.

He also bravely brought the highest individual tax rate down from 70% to 28% and restructured the tax code, effectively reigniting the economy during an economically challenging time. He was not afraid to try new policies. And, his "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" speech was historic and still quoted today as the turning point in the breakup of the Soviet Union. While his presidency faced many problems that seemed insurmountable, he left the White House with the highest approval rating (68%) since Franklin Roosevelt.
I met the mother of a girl who had attended Langley High School. The daughter was approached by another student about a great way to make nearly $100 after school from 3 to 6 pm. Unbeknown to the young lady, the other student was in a gang trying to recruit her into porn and prostitution. Terrified, the girl told her parents. They got little support from the school or the Fairfax County police. The family received death threats and ended up reporting it to the FBI. The mother was forced to move out of state until the young women graduated from high school and went to college.
Nope. Not going there.
Yes. Emergency powers should be granted when there is a special need for swift and decisive action during a crisis. Keeping in mind that these powers are designed to be temporary, the Legislature should monitor to ensure that these powers are not misused nor extended beyond the initial crisis.
I would recommend legislation that requires municipalities of a given size to submit to an independent audit of their books at least once every four years.

Financial transparency and government accountability are critical! Government is the steward of tax payer money, not an entitled entity. As such, it must spend tax payer money prudently and judiciously.
It depends. Currently, Virginians do not have the power of statewide initiatives or referendums. Instead, the Legislature can refer statewide ballot measures as constitutional amendments. If there is a contentious issue, then it may need to be presented as a ballot initiative.

My husband and I moved to Vienna, Virginia over 25 years ago. We love this area with its proximity to national, state, and county parks. It has been the perfect place to raise our two sons. Both sons attended Fairfax County Public Schools and graduated from James Madison High School. Our oldest graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point while our youngest graduated from Virginia Tech.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurial Management from The Wharton School of Business.

Throughout my career, I worked in technology as a program / product manager specializing in new product launches and initiatives. To summarize my professional experience, I think creatively, holistically, and thoughtfully to make things happen!

Currently, I am on the Board of a wonderful non-profit that provides equine assisted therapy and adaptive therapeutic riding to veterans and people with visible and/or hidden disabilities. I have dedicated myself making things better.

When I'm not volunteering or attending meetings, I can be found hiking with my family, walking my dogs, reading about history, or riding my horse.

  • I will be a respectful and thoughtful voice. We need healthy, well-informed debate to truly discern the issues and subsequently, develop effective and meaningful solutions. To legislate effectively, leaders must be able to analyze the data, understand the underlying facts, and think holistically when it comes to implementing effective legislation. We must grasp the implications of our proposals. What are the upstream causes that need to be addressed as well as the downstream effects? What metrics should we monitor to determine success or failure? What are our strategies to pivot when our actions go off course or fail to meet expectations? Too often our politicians respond with emotions instead of well thought-out policies.
  • We’re living in times of economic uncertainty. It’s harder than ever to buy a home. Everything from gas to groceries is more expensive, and government regulations are hurting small businesses. We to need cut the pointless regulations that are contributing to rising costs. I believe in fiscal responsibility and will strive to eliminate waste from our budgets, while demanding financial accountability in Richmond. I will stand with small business owners, will fight every day to lower taxes and costs for every Virginian. Why? Because it’s your money and it belongs in your wallet. It’s time for change!
  • In Fairfax County, the quality of our children’s education has taken a backseat to partisan agendas. Furthermore, our children suffered from significant learning losses that stemmed from the pandemic and we do not seem to be catching back up. It will take coordinated, common-sense leadership, both at the state and county levels to get our students back on-track. As your Delegate in Richmond, I will be your respectful voice fighting to address the shortcomings in our area’s schools. To get us back on track, schools must: 1) respect parents’ rights to raise their children; 2) teach students “how to think, not what to think;” and 3) provide a physically safe and respectful environment for students to learn, grow, and feel secure.
Public safety is a fundamental concern in HD 6. Unfortunately, Fairfax County is experiencing a five-year high crime rate. Crime is not a siloed problem; it is intertwined with many other issues, e.g., retail theft is forcing stores to raise prices to offset losses and the fentanyl crisis is destroying lives. Meanwhile, our children must feel safe in school and in our communities to learn while gangs in some areas are taking that away from them.

Currently, we are short over 200 law enforcement professionals in Fairfax County. To reverse this troubling trend, we must support our officers with hiring and retention programs as well a training and development opportunities. It is time for change, we must introduce State legislation that will help to keep us all safe.

Too many to decide on a favorite one! I’ve read, “The Last Lion: Winston Spencer Churchill” trilogy twice. I admire the historical works of William Manchester. Understanding past history can help serve as a road map to solving future problems.
Mutual respect and a willingness to listen to each other's view points.
I believe diverse career experiences are most important. We need people in government who can ask the right questions to guide us in developing the best solutions and recommendations.
Definitely. Consensus building is very important. We need to take into account the view points of everyone to develop the best legislation.
