Campaign themes
2014
Wiegand's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[2]
Healthcare
- Excerpt: "In Pennsylvania, we can put in place a low cost primary care network of nurse-practitioner run community clinics designed to provide basic/non-life threatening care to address the majority of the community’s healthcare needs."
Education
- Excerpt: "My proposal for amending the way in which we fund our public school’s calls for the elimination of the wealthiest and poorest school districts as they currently stand."
Property Tax Reform
- Excerpt: "I believe, however, that there comes a point when an organization begins to engage either in historically wholly-for-profit activities, or it reaches a certain level of revenue, like $50 million dollars annually, that it sufficiently transforms itself to no longer warrant or require tax exempt designation. Whether a full ride or some meaningful percentage thereof, I will work to make mega-nonprofits pay their fair share."
Environment
- Excerpt: "What I mean by that, is while the hallmark of sustainable development is to ensure that the environmental impacts of an activity are such that the consequences will not be detrimental to future generations, Responsible Actualization embraces this idea and takes things one step further by adding the notion of critical examination to ensure that we are making the most of what we have."
LGBT Rights
- Excerpt: "It is therefore one of my CORNERSTONE CAMPAIGN IDEAS, to propose extending the full benefits and protections of the law to ALL legal residents of Pennsylvania, regardless of sexual orientation."
