Kristy Gnibus is a mother, teacher and leader in our community. Raised by her mother - a Navy veteran and U.S. Postal worker - Kristy graduated from Seneca High School in Erie, Pa. and was the first in her family to attend college. During her sophomore year of college, Kristy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Scheduling her treatment and surgeries around her classes and work schedule, Kristy persisted and graduated from Mercyhurst University with a degree in education and later earned her principal certification from Edinboro University. Today, she is also completing her dissertation for her Phd. in Leadership at Gannon University. She also teaches at McDowell Intermediate School and raises her daughters, Josephine (11) and Zoey (14). Kristy is also a Big Sister and an advocate for women and mental health. In addition to teaching, parenting, mentoring and getting her daughters to swimming, gymnastics and other activities, Kristy works evenings as a bartender and occasionally drives for Uber to make sure she has the money for essentials and, occasionally, a fun trip with her girls. Kristy knows firsthand how hardworking Pennsylvanians live and the kinds of sacrifices they make every day to provide for their families. She understands the value of a living wage and what it means to work hard often at multiple jobs to afford health care and medications. She wants all of our kids and grandkids to have safe schools to attend and strong tools to succeed in a changing economy.
  • Everyone deserves access to the healthcare
  • Ensure that everyone has access to affordable education
  • Fight for an economy that works for everyone
Education is a top priority. When we invest in education, we see those results in other areas of society.

As a person with pre-existing, I know how important protecting people's right to access the healthcare they need to survive.
