I am a 31-year homeowner in the District. My professional background includes middle and corporate management positions. I volunteered for 12 years as a Master Executive Chair of my union assisting with life crises. I currently operate my own business providing both DOT and General substance use assessments and non-clinical training to companies, employees, and civic groups.

As a council member, I was the first to consistently engage with multiple city departments including Public Works, Safety, and more; I have already accessed the additional communities in District 39B to achieve the same level of commitment.

I believe that when we shed personal agendas, government can work cohesively to achieve what is best for the constituency.
  • I have watched as our representation focuses on personal agendas rather than the voices of the constituency. Taxes and the economy are stompling our working classes into poverty. We are over-taxed to an almost $10 BILLION surplus with an average return to taxpayers of a mere $260. Current representation continues to raise taxes. Biennium projections indicate an additional $10 BILLION increase. $20 BILLION in 2 years is reprehensible and irresponsible!
  • Education is given "historic" monies by the state but micromanaged to inefficiency and then forced to overcome state mandates that are either unfunded or underfunded. We have fallen dramatically in national education status: previously 6th in the nation but now are mid-pack!
  • Too many bills either create or increase spending by raising taxes and fees that will generate billions of dollars and increase the budget by 40%. Some specific areas include license fees, over-priced energy and "Blackout Bills", child care, gas tax, metro sales tax, payroll taxes, delivery fees , and more. Most do so without regard to the impact of families in our communities. Recent conversations with young homeowners reveal they are feaerful they cannot maintain the mortgage, utiites and healthcare and still have enough for groceries and the gas tank. They see their homeownership as a short-term endeavor but hop against hope it will work out totheir favor.
Micromanaging funds allocated to our schools, child care, senior care and more don't get the job done. Throwing money at an issue that is not working is not a fix - we need to fix what is broken!

Providing benefits for 10's of thousands of undocumented immigrants is inequitable. We have tax-paying citizens who cannot qualify for those same benefits because they make $10, $20, or $50 too much!
Allowing undocumented and non-residents to acquire MN driver's licenses that serve as valid IDs for voter registration and look identical to those of qualified and tax-paying residents is a problem!

We cannot financially sustain these issues long-term. We owe accountability to those paying the bills!
I have passions at both ends of the political spectrum. I am fiscally conservative but also know that I cannot nor would I want to determine another's health choices.

I consider the data presented on an issue coupled with the voice of the majority when determining a vote.
In all of my voting life, I have never declared a party affiliation nor voted a party ticket. I look at what each candidate brings to the table, considering background, knowledge, experience, and platform.

When I take my oath of the office I seek, I commit to those I will represent without regard to party affiliation.
I am determined, energetic, engaged, hard-working, and not afraid of a challenge.
I vividly remember sitting in my 4th-grade classroom when President Kennedy was assassinated. We heard the announcement on the intercom box above the blackboard and watched Mrs. Christman begin to cry. She immediately directed our attention out the classroom windows as the Post Office flag was lowered to half-mast.
We were dismissed shortly after the announcement. We heard and saw things in the coming days that we could barely comprehend as we watched history unfold before our eyes.
We need to overcome the untethered actions of the extreme and bring balance and non-partisan workability back to our legislature. Crossing the aisle for the constituency should be the priority.
Legislators need to work together to achieve the best outcome. That requires building relationships and listening to the ideas of others.
I was privileged to be mentored by IL Senator Everett Dirksen. He taught me to stand for what I believe in and to believe in what I stand for. I try to live each day with that in mind.
My favorite is this "dirty" joke my young niece told us years ago:

What did one burb say to the other burb?

Let's be stinkers and go out the other way!
I believe it should be a collaborative effort of all three branches with the governor ultimately making the decision.
I received the Republican endorsement but have not accepted any others because I will not be obligated to anyone other than the constituency.
