Kurt Horton was a judge for the Eighteenth Judicial District Court of Colorado. He joined the court in 2009 and was retained by voters in 2012. [1]

Education

Horton received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1976 and his J.D. from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law in 1980.[2]

Career

Prior to joining the court, Horton was an attorney in private practice.[2]

Elections

2012

Horton was retained in the general election on November 6, winning 68.86% of the vote.[3]

Judicial performance evaluation

The Eighteenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance announced its recommendations for judges up for retention in 2012. According to its website, the commission evaluates judges based on the following criteria: integrity, legal knowledge, communication skills, judicial temperament, and administrative performance.[4]


Judge Horton was recommended for retention by an unanimous vote. [2]
