Kurt Edward Kumli was a judge for the Superior Court of Santa Clara County in California. He was appointed to the court by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.[1] Though Kumli was re-elected automatically in 2014 because he faced no opposition, he retired from the court on June 26, 2014.[2][3]

Career

Prior to his appointment, Judge Kumli was the chief deputy district attorney in the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office. In that position, he was the primary policy advisor and administrator for all matters relating to juvenile justice. Judge Kumli has served on the faculty for the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, the Center for Judicial Education and Research (CJER), the California Judges Association and a variety of state and national attorney organizations. He was appointed by California Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald George to Advisory Committees for the California Judicial Council on three separate occasions, twice as an attorney and once as a bench officer.[4] He was appointed to the Superior Court of Santa Clara County by Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006.

As an unopposed incumbent, he was automatically re-elected without appearing on the ballot. [2]
