I'm a husband, father, teacher, union member, community volunteer, gardener, cyclist, and many other things.

I graduated from Douglass High School in 2011, attended Emporia State University through 2015, met Kendra while there, moved a few times, started a family, and have been trying to make the world a better place since.

I've taught a few things, from AP and IB high school/college-level physics to 7th grade ELA, and now teach 8th grade science in my 8th year as an educator. I hope to continue to do so for years to come.

A few of my favorite places in Derby are The COOP, First Man Brewery, La Hacienda, and Good Fortune.

A few of my favorite films are Forrest Gump, The Lord of the Rings, and Back to the Future.

I am passionate about making the world, or at least my corner of it, a place that is happier and healthier for everyone.
  • My top priority in the legislature will be fighting for the expansion of Medicaid/KanCare. There are federal funds available to provide all Kansans better access to the healthcare they urgently need and deserve, if only Kansas lawmakers would stop refusing it. We are among the last states not to expand our program, which is hurting not only the needy, but everyone (especially those in rural locales where hospitals have closed due to the financial burden of uncompensated care), when others ultimately pick up the tab for those unable to pay who should've been covered by KanCare in the first place. Let's use the funding that's being offered us and give all Kansans a break on their healthcare!
  • I stand for women's right to make their own healthcare decisions with the input of doctors, not politicians. I trust women to make the right healthcare choices for themselves. I am not alone in this. Kansans spoke loud and clear by rejecting the Value Them Both referendum of 2022, and accordingly, as your representative I will stand up for women by protecting their right to govern their own bodies with all the nuance that such private and complex matters require.
  • As a public school teacher of eight years (and counting), I am deeply concerned about efforts from some corners of the legislature to erode the capacity of public schools to provide for the needs of all K-12 Kansas children. I will protect the funding and other resources needed for public schools to complete the tasks we charge them with -- to provide safe, welcoming, caring, challenging, and empowering places that nurture them as they develop into the professionals and citizens of tomorrow.
Public Safety, Public Health, Environment, Land Use, Education, Mobility, Housing, and Economic Opportunity for All
Honesty -- being true to one's word.

Loyalty -- acting in the best interest of the people

Courage -- standing up for what is right, correct, true, and good, despite what it might mean for a politician's career.
Para-educator, 2 school years -- I worked at Sisk Middle School in Douglass while attending Butler CCC for two years. I very much enjoyed this job, and it helped to prepare me for a career of teaching. I left the job when I transferred schools in order to finish my education degree on campus at Emporia State University. I am grateful to my colleagues, supervisors, and students from this time for making it an experience that I recall so fondly.
