Larsen received his bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater and his master's degree in education from Concordia University. He has worked as a teacher in the Beloit School District and the Delavan-Darien School District.[1]

Two of the seven seats on the Beloit School District Board of Education in Wisconsin were up for at-large general election on April 3, 2018. Incumbents Lisa Anderson-Levy and Dennis Baskin did not file for election, leaving both seats open. Five candidates filed for election, requiring a primary election to be held on February 20, 2018. Candidates Kyle Larsen and David Wilson defeated Kathy Crawford and Sarah Weiss in the general election. Erick Johnson was defeated in the primary election.[2][3][4]
