Key Issues Economy of the People and for the People Every day life is too expensive for the average American, and Congress needs to act The cost of living continues to skyrocket while corporations rake in record profits. As your congressman, I will enact fair pricing legislation to bring down the cost of living. Housing has become unaffordable to young people, and corporations continue to buy single-family homes in order to force us all to rent from them. When I am elected, I will enact legislation limiting large corporations' ability to purchase homes and support opportunities for family tax credits for first-time home purchasers. American families can't afford to pay for childcare at the current prices seen in West Texas and all across America. With families being forced to choose between paying for childcare or paying for basic necessities, it's time to help working American families. As your congressman, I will introduce legislation to provide better training to childcare professionals, more robust facilities, and increase the number of workers in this critical industry. Americans should not bear the brunt of Trump's trade war with our longtime allies. Congress must act to rein in Presidential powers and limit the White House's ability to force Americans to pay for the excess tariffs. America is the economic powerhouse of the world, and we should unleash its potential. Returning American manufacturing to our shores to provide high-quality, high-paying, union jobs will be a major priority for me in Congress. Immigration and the Border Immigrants are an important part of our communities, the legal pathways to become American citizens should be expanded The legal immigration process in the U.S. is far too complex, and this complexity encourages illegal immigration. We must streamline the immigration process to enable immigrants to enter the United States legally. America has always been a safe haven for the persecuted; we should not turn our backs on those who need our help. Anyone who is capable of working should be able to join the American workforce legally and without restriction. America should protect our national borders by expanding the documentation process for anyone who wishes to enter our country. Protecting American Livelihood and Personal Data In the digital age, everyday citizens' private data is vulnerable; we must take steps to protect our citizens Digital innovation is important for our economy, but it should not come at the expense of American citizens' private information. As your congressman, I will enact legislation that stiffens penalties for companies who mishandle your private information and increase safeguards to ensure your data is not stolen. AI is revolutionizing everyday life, and Congress is failing the people by neglecting its responsibility to regulate this new industry. Instead of promoting best practices, Congress continues to sit idly by. As your next Congressman, I will establish a bipartisan commission focused on protecting American workers from the impacts of AI. Companies are profiting off your selling your private data; this is blatantly wrong. After I am elected, I will introduce legislation that limits corporations' ability to sell off personal information. Farms for Farmers Congress needs to prioritize the revitalization of farms and rural communities across West Texas For too long, both parties have neglected rural communities. As your next Congressman, I will be a tireless advocate for rural communities and family farms. When I am elected, I will introduce legislation to freeze interest rates on loans for small, family-owned farms. Congress needs to unleash American ingenuity to tackle soil and water conservation. I will work to make sustainable farming practices available to all farmers to ensure a successful future for West Texans and their families for generations to come. When farmers succeed, West Texas succeeds. As your next Congressman, farmers and their communities will finally have a passionate voice in Washington. Defend Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and Veterans Affairs For generations, Americans have paid into Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. I will fight tirelessly to protect the programs you deserve Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and Veterans Affairs are essential to supporting working families and veterans who rely on these programs to live long, happy, economically free lives. In Congress, I will fight to ensure these programs are delivered to everyone who has paid into them. Inspired by Lyndon B. Johnson and the Great Society, I will be a constant defender of the working class and veterans and the programs which were created to support them. After I am elected, I will introduce legislation to insulate these programs from further executive overreach and ensure all Americans receive the benefits they deserve. Waste, fraud, and abuse in our system must be addressed; however, cutting millions of deserving Americans off from their healthcare is not the solution. As your Congressman, I will work with a bipartisan group to limit fraud in our public systems while delivering access to Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and Veterans Affairs. Healthcare is a human right, and any elected official who promotes legislation that makes it harder for working Americans to have access to healthcare must be voted out. Attack Monopolies to Protect American Industry Large corporations have been allowed to monopolize our economy for too long, threatening our farmers and working class's ability to pursue the American dream. Inspired by Theodore Roosevelt, we must break up the monopolies that have come to dominate our economy and strangle out the competition of family-run businesses. As your next Congressman, I will empower the Small Business Administration to actively support small businesses and allow family businesses to thrive again in America. Breaking up large, un-patriotic monopolies will allow West Texan farmers and workers to succeed. When I am elected, I will be a voice for the small family businesses that have been neglected for too long. Defend the Constitution I swore an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States. I will not stand idly by as unelected billionaires and the far right attack our country's most important document. The Constitution has been our country's guiding light for 250 years. I will defend the principles enshrined in this document from attacks from both sides of the aisle. Congress must protect both the Bill of Rights and the Constitution and reassert Congressional authority. As your Congressman, I will co-sponsor legislation to rescind the war powers given to the President to prevent more endless wars in the Middle East. West Texas deserves a fighter who will fight for her while following the principles of the Constitution, as your next Congressman, I will be that fighter. Healthcare That Works for People The American healthcare system is broken, Congress wont act to fix it. I will. Americans spend more per person on our healthcare than any other country, yet we have the lowest healthcare outcomes per dollar spent than any other country. Congress has allowed companies to line their pockets with your hard earned money just so you can stay healthy. As your next Congressmen, I will stand up to big companies who overcharge you for essential medical care. In the smartest, most innovative country in the world there is no excuse to have the highest maternal mortality rate amongst high income countries. When I am elected, I will unleash American ingenuity and scientific prowess to address the root causes of this issue and focus on protecting mothers and their children. Year after year, insurance companies raise your rates while covering less and less. It is time for Congress to act to protect American citizens from greedy corporations who don't hold up their end of the bargain. As your Congressman, I will introduce legislation that limits companies' abilities to override medical recommendations and deny coverage. No American should die due to an inability to afford livesaving medicine and care. After I am elected, I will introduce legislation to put price caps on medicine that saves lives, like insulin. West Texans rely on access to rural hospitals to stay healthy. Our current Congressman wrote a bill that will close down 6 rural hospitals in a region that already suffers from lack of access to healthcare. As your next Congressman, I will vote to fully fund rural healthcare and work to address the needs of our underserved rural communities. |
