As a lifetime resident of Frankfort and Franklin County, an attorney, small business owner, husband, father, a two time elected local officials, a former prosecutor and one of the youngest ever appointed General Counsel's of a Kentucky State Agency, I am the only candidate for the 57th District Seat of the Kentucky House of Representatives with the experience necessary to draft, interpret, and promulgate legislation that will benefit the citizens of my hometown community. My goal is to be a voice for the people of the Capital City with the first opportunity, in a generation, to have an actual seat at the proverbial table when the Commonwealth of Kentucky is both solvent and a super-majority of the House of Representatives is controlled by the Republican party. I want to direct dollars to Frankfort for capital improvement projects that will make our city the crown jewel of capital cities across the country. I want to help grow and build our community in positive ways by shining a light on some of the most uncomfortable issues that must be addressed to reach that point: our increasing drug and overdose numbers; our declining education and skills training opportunities; and one of the highest per capita dependence on federal and state social welfare programs by providing and encouraging job training and increased post secondary education funding for both our youth and non-traditional students. This will create a more robust and well prepared workforce.
  • The Capital City of Frankfort deserves to have investment from the Commonwealth to provide for the brightest future possible for our community, and not simply to remain focused on our history; which, while fascinating should not be what our community is known for, but maintained as our city is the bridge between the beginning of this great Commonwealth to the unbridled possibilities of our collective futures.
  • We can no longer ignore the facts that our community is failing current and future generations of young people as we struggle with one of the highest actual drug overdose rates per capita in the United States, an unengaged and ill prepared workforce, and a lack of development and growth over the last forty-five years. The City of Frankfort must demand the highest levels of resources to combat addiction and cycles of crime and poverty; the greatest efforts of our educational systems and providers to mold our youth into prepared graduates of post-secondary education ready for college and/or the best job skills training programs in the Bluegrass; and the increasing focus on economic and community development.
  • Fiscal responsibility and investments into the futures of our youth is the only means by which our Commonwealth can be prepared for the future that will certainly require our citizens and communities to compete for every job; every state and federal dollar for education and job training; and every opportunity to protect the most fundamental rights afforded to each of us: the rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
Economic Development; Education; Criminal Justice Reform and Lowering Recidivism; and Ending Political Corruption.
My father, Thomas Thompson. He is the greatest Christian man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and loving my entire life. He and my mother adopted me at the age of fifteen (15) days old, and I was blessed with an amazing example of Christ's love, my father's discernment, and his love for his family and fellow man.
The Bible; The United States Constitution; The 1891 Fourth Constitution of the Commonwealth of Kentucky; 'To Kill a Mockingbird' by Harper Lee; 'Feeling Good' by Dr. David Burn; 'The Prince' by Niccolo Machiavelli; Federalist Papers No. 23 - 'The Necessity of a Government as Energetic as the One Proposed to the Preservation of the Union', Hamilton; Federalist Papers No. 45 - 'The Alleged Danger From the Powers of the Union to the State Governments Considered', Madison; Federalist Papers No. 46 - 'The Influence of the State and Federal Governments Compared', Madison; Federalist Papers No. 47 - 'The Particular Structure of the New Government and the Distribution of Power Among Its Different Parts', Madison; Federalist Papers No. 48 - 'These Departments Should Not Be So Far Separated as to Have No Constitutional Control Over Each Other', Madison; and 'Common Sense' by Thomas Paine.
Trustworthiness; transparency; representation of all of the people, meaning one must not just be willing, but take proactive steps towards working with all individuals willing to mediate the most important issues that affect all of the Commonwealth; faithful servant leadership; and a true understanding of the fiduciary responsibility of elected officials as stewards of the money of the people.
I research every topic until I know all possible angles and issues related to the question. I am a leader, having twice been elected to local office, but having been a community leader on multiple boards and commissions prior to that honor, that cares more for those around me than I do my own well-being. I am a successful business leader that has grown a company to the largest in its industry through hard work and dedication to an inclusive, family style work environment and care for our clientele. I am an attorney with twenty-two (22) years of practice having argued the smallest of cases that have paid nothing but the satisfaction of helping a widow settle her husband's estate, to arguing before the U.S. Court of Appeals before the 6th Circuit and being sworn into the United States Supreme Court by Chief Justice John Roberts. And, I am a husband, son, and father that believes that those duties supersede any other responsibility granted on this earth.
That I was a follower of Jesus Christ that lived his faith in how he treated other people. That I was human and that I went through my own personal trials, tribulations, and hells, but kept striving to be a better man, and that by the time I left this Earth I had given more to my friends, family, and fellow Kentuckians than I ever gained in riches, titles, and fame.
Ronald Reagan defeating then President Jimmy Carter. I was four (4) years old at the time.
I worked in my parents Christian Bookstore from the age of ten (10) until I was sixteen (16). I then obtained my first 'paying' job at Allied Sporting Goods where I worked for approximately two (2) years.
It is not mandatory, but it lessens the time of a learning curve necessary to become an effective leader within the confines and boundaries of representative government.
Absolutely. Without strong personal relationships with other legislators, it is impossible to depend upon and trust your fellow lawmakers to have the best interest of all the citizens of the Commonwealth, and not just fulfilling their own personal agendas. Strong relationships lead to the knowledge of a person's heart and their true character and whether they are a servant leader, or simply an elected representative chosen from the least offensive of all possible candidates.
I will always follow the calling upon my life, the prayerful obedience between myself and my wife and our children and our Creator, and how I might best serve the needs of my people if called to serve.
Financial Transparency is one of the fundamental responsibilities of any form of government. Without it, there is no means by which the government can ever be trusted to have the best interest of the people. The Government must be held accountable to the people and to do so means that private interests, political action committees, and the power of the minority of the people through the influence of money and personal gain should be removed completely from government and the elections of our representatives. And anyone that bends the knee to corruption and the influence of money instead of to the relegated and mandatory responsibilities of a government official, should not only be held accountable at the ballot box but also before a Judge and a Jury.

I am a lifetime resident of Frankfort, Kentucky. I have been practicing law and I have been a small business owner for more than twenty (20) years in my hometown. I am married to Jennifer Vest Thompson (Flatwoods) and I have two (2) daughters, Emma Katherine (20) and Olivia Reagan (17); and one (1) son, Landon Cooper (11). I also have two (2) bonus kids: Kate (15) and Ryder (12). I am running for this position to give a voice to those that have not had representation in local Frankfort government for nearly the entire existence of the community. I am the most experienced candidate for the position considering my education, business development skills, and knowledge. Now I want to use that experience to move the city that I love forward and tackle the plethora of issues facing the Capital City of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Parks development, lowering costs to taxpayers, and combining resources between city and county governments.
