What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

My platform is equity, affordability, and safety. Equity is responsible development that allows our local businesses to flourish while bringing in more restaurants, retail, and green spaces. It is development that respects the integrity of our historic neighborhoods. Equity is when our zoned schools have sufficient resources to teach and enrich our children. I will fight for our public schools and support a community plan that represents the community’s voice. I want to maintain the affordability of our neighborhoods for the residents who have lived and contributed to our community for generations. I support young professionals, families, workers, and others having affordable places to live. Others are welcome to come enjoy the beauty of living in District 2 without our district becoming a concentrated pocket of poverty with depressed home values. I will advocate to protect the integrity of our neighborhoods and our residents from displacement. Residents want to be safe in our neighborhoods. I will collaborate with community groups that are doing the work to address the root causes of crime in our community to expand their reach. I will also work to ensure that our first responders have the resources that they need to effectively do their jobs. Safety expands beyond crime. I will work to get adequate sidewalks and crosswalks so that our children and neighbors can commute on our streets safely

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am most passionate about policies that address issues of equity, affordability, and safety.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Integrity, accountability, collegiality, and inclusiveness

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I am a public servant with substantial government and legislative experience. I have nearly 15 years of experience as an attorney. Over 10 of those years have been with state government. I've been a managing attorney for over three years. I am used to working with government officials and advising them. I know how to bring people of diverse ideologies to the table to find solutions to complex problems. In my role as a government attorney, not only do I read, analyze, interpret, and advise on current law, I also read, analyze, interpret, and advise on proposed legislation. Thus, I play a role in shaping the law in my practice area. This past session, my team reviewed approximately 50 bills. Over the course of my career, I have reviewed hundreds of bills. I have also written and advocated for legislation that is became law. The Council is a legislative body. Serving on the Council would be an extension of my current career. Therefore, I am ready to lead on day one.
