An LL.M., an abbreviation of Legum Magister, is a postgraduate law degree. It is also referred to as a Master of Laws. The LL.M. focuses on a specific area of study and in the United States, can only be obtained after a LL.B. or J.D. is earned. However, a Master of Laws is an internationally recognized degree, so requirements vary based on location.[1]
