LaVarr Webb is publisher of Utah Policy Daily and Utah Pulse, both of which cover politics in Utah. In 2002, Webb founded the Exoro Group, a Salt Lake City, Utah-based public affairs firm specializing in public policy and strategic communications.[1] He retired from Exoro Group in 2014.[2] Webb was campaign manager and policy deputy to former Republican Governor of Utah Mike Leavitt.[3]
Career
LaVarr Webb was a journalist with The Spectrum newspaper and the Salt Lake City, Utah-based publication Deseret Morning News. He was with the Deseret Morning News from June 1976 to November 1989 and served as a reporter, political editor, city editor and managing editor.[3][4] In 1992, he was campaign manager for Republican Mike Leavitt's winning campaign for Governor of Utah. From 1993 to 1997, he served in Leavitt's administration as "deputy for policy, and also wrote speeches and directed major projects. He was the governor's liaison to the Western Governors Association, the Republican Governors Association and the National Governors Association."[3] In 2002, Webb founded the Exoro Group, a Salt Lake City, Utah-based public affairs firm specializing in public policy and strategic communications.[1] He retired from Exoro Group in 2014.[2]
In 2004, he began publishing Utahpolicy.com.[4] Today, he is publisher of Utah Policy Daily and Utah Pulse, both of which cover politics in Utah. Webb also co-authors a weekly column in the Deseret News with Democrat Frank Pignanelli, a former minority leader in the Utah House of Representatives.[5]. Webb continues to consult for Republican political candidates in Utah.[2][5]
In 2012, Webb was named to the list of Top 500 Influencers in American Politics by Campaigns & Elections Magazine, which stated that he "is widely considered one of the state's sharpest consultants."[6]
