I've been a work-from-home accountant with my own CPA firm for the last 14 years of my 25-year accounting career. I've lived in Spokane County 16 years and in Spokane Valley for the past seven years. I went back to college at age 46 after working as an oil-field welder, a mechanic, and a construction contractor. I've worn white collars and blue collars, dress ties and work gloves.

I have worked in public accounting, as well as non-profit and governmental accounting. I have worked with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, standing up to the IRS, and helping individuals and small businesses understand how to make their businesses work more efficiently and make more money. I understand budgets, and I will make common sense decisions with your money.

I was not born or raised in Eastern Washington; I chose Eastern Washington as my home. This is the best place to live and to raise a family. I didn't live the beginning of my life here, but I have made this my home. And I want to work to make this community a better, a more just and equitable place for my grandchildren.
I'm passionate about many aspects of public policy, which is why I'm running.

Children deserve safe child care; families and businesses need guaranteed safe affordable child care. We already recognize the value of K-12 education and take on the cost as the cost a democratic society pays to have a healthy and educated electorate. Now we need to take the next step: guaranteed, safe affordable child care from birth through five years. The lack of safe affordable child care holds back businesses and wastes productive capacity. This is why businesses need a responsive, available workforce able to work odd hours and long shifts when business conditions require.

I believe that every community should have a board of community members to oversee what the police and sheriff departments do, and the other types of professionals that they add to the teams, such as mental health professionals and social workers. The legislature can ensure that every city across the state prioritizes these community oversight committees in order to move forward in fighting for racial justice, better mental health care, and caring for our homeless neighbors.

It's going to take sophisticated conversations in Olympia to figure out the next best steps for EVERYONE in our state. As a CPA, I am uniquely qualified to ensure we create a budget that is responsible, and compassionate.
I look up to my dad. He came to this country as a baby, through Ellis Island. He worked hard, went to college, and made a better life for his children than he had. He always stood up for what was right, and instilled those values in my siblings and me. He's now in his 90s, and still supporting my dreams. He lives near Washington DC, and is proud of my campaign.

Our family is one example of the American Dream. I want to continue the dream by going to Olympia and standing up for other families fighting for the same opportunities that we were given. Whether you're a 5th generation Washingtonian, or a newly arrived American, we all deserve the same chance at the American Dream.
For too long, our district has been represented by men who would have our state torn in half, literally by creating a new state. This kind of behavior is counterproductive and extreme. It's time to elect someone who is willing to do the real work for our district by standing up for our families and representing their real values like, expanding early childhood education and ensuring that vital services are protected.

Legislators are supposed to listen to their community members, and take their concerns to Olympia. Holding town hall meetings, and communicating with all their constituents, not just their supporters is of the utmost importance.
I want people to know that I have done my best to leave the world a better place. Standing up for those who have less than I do is a value that I want my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to see in me, and I want to see it in them. Becoming a State Legislator is the next logical step on my journey. It's beyond my own neighborhood, and I can affect change throughout all of Washington.
I don't believe that it is necessary for someone to have previous experience in government or politics when running for state office. Many people get their start at the state level, and that's great! What truly matters is that someone has the passion to make their state better for their constituents, and an understanding of how government works. We have seen plenty of people become great public servants based on their life experience alone.
Absolutely. There are so many differing opinions about how to best serve our state, that it is vital to create strong relationships with other legislators on both sides of the aisle. I have already begun this process by getting to know the legislators in other districts, as well as city council members to ensure that I know what they need once I am in Olympia. I can only work to ensure that the 4th District gets its fair share if I am willing to work with others and participate in committees.
As an accountant, I am uniquely qualified to join the House Appropriations Committee to help with the state budget, and the deficit that our state is facing in the coming session. I enjoy working with budgets, and it is going to take a sophisticated conversation to ensure that vital services are not cut during a pandemic, when so many people in our state are without jobs and struggling to stay in their homes and put food on the table. We have to find new revenue sources to keep people from suffering more.

As a grandparent, the Early Childhood Education Committee is important to me.
