Campaign themes

Lefebure has noted the following campaign themes:[2]

  • Infrastructure

Excerpt: "A variety of methods have been discussed in conversations about how to pay for road repairs, and the road-use tax generally ends up as the most ideal method. The road-use tax is simple to collect, has a minimal amount of fraud, and we all pay it proportionally to the amount of driving we do and the weight of the vehicle."

  • Minimum Wage

Excerpt: "I believe that the societal benefits resulting from increasing the minimum wage to ~$10/hr outweigh the negatives, both known and unknown. Ideally this would also get indexed to inflation so that we don’t need to keep having this discussion every few years.

  • Campaign finance reform

Excerpt: "My preference would be to limit each candidate’s campaign expenditures to $1 per person that voted in the most recent election for that office. Maybe the dollar amount should be higher or lower, but the general idea is that all candidates with reasonable levels of support will receive that much funding, and the rule can be applied to an office at any level."

  • The Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")

Excerpt: "There was a need for improvement, and the ACA was implemented. It isn’t perfect, and it likely never will be, but it’s a start."
