In June of 2012, My wife, Amy, and I managed to find the place that best fit our dreams of affordable home ownership and a strong sense of community when we arrived here in Huntersville. This might be considered the culmination of an epic journey across the country for me. In my life I have lived in 7 different states, worked in 16 states and 5 different countries. This gives me a unique background to draw from to identify things that work and improvements that we can make in our town.

From a government experience perspective, I have worked as a City Clerk, served on a Mecklenburg County advisory committee, done an internship at a state Capitol, worked at the Social Security Administration, U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Capitol Police. This means that I am no stranger to how government works, and I understand how interconnected government can be.

I attended Columbia College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration and computer information systems. I also have an associate degree in Philosophy and Humanities. I now have over 20 years of experience in the Information Technology field and, having spent the last 12 years as a consultant, I have a vast array of experience in several different industries such as; retail, finance, insurers, government, oil, and manufacturing. I will be able to use this experience to help businesses in our community understand what does and doesn't work to help them excel and better serve our community.

I look forward to serving the people and working to give Huntersville a better future.

  • School overcrowding is a significant issue in our community. We need to address the root cause of this issue, which is the constant approval of more and more housing. I am working with CMS Candidates now so that when I am elected, I will have a good start on getting CMS to rescind the sanctions of the MCA and actively work with us to provide funding for new schools and improvements to our existing schools. I will remain open to all possible options to address this issue for the long term and will work with community leaders to identify innovative solutions.
  • One of the first things I intend to do as Commissioner is to sit down with our newly formed 2040 plan committee and place an emphasis on identifying where our next business corridor is going to be and stop converting land that is currently zoned commercial into residential.
  • Road construction will likely be a very painful process as we work to play catch up on our infrastructure needs. We need to work with NCDOT to limit the impact on our residents and businesses. We need to plan out the road improvements in such a manner that they are spread throughout the town and occur only at night. If you have one area of town where multiple projects are occurring, people will avoid that area and that could be very detrimental to businesses in that area. Also, we will need to limit the number projects occurring on multiple East - West or North - South arteries at the same time as it will make everyone want to avoid Huntersville altogether.
I want to make visible progress on transforming our downtown into an area of pride that residents in our community will clamor to visit and more importantly I will work on expanding our greenways, bike paths and sidewalks to make easier for citizens to get to the downtown area and other areas of Huntersville. I want to bring an emphasis to tree canopy preservation by increasing the percentage of specimen trees that are required to be saved, expanding the definition of specimen trees and increasing the fines developers must pay if they choose not meet our minimum tree save requirements. I plan to lead an effort to address long term environmental issues by introducing an ordinance to ban single use plastic bags and look for other ways to promote environmental responsibility in our community. I intend to sit down with our newly formed 2040 plan committee and place an emphasis on identifying where our next business corridor is going to be and stop converting land that is currently zoned commercial into residential. I will also work with CMS to identify opportunities to partner area businesses with our high schools to continue to develop crucial occupational skills in our next generation.
Barack Obama, I would like to follow his example of leading with integrity and being someone whom others can look up to.
To do what is in the best interest of the people you are representing regardless of who voted for you. We will need to have a vision for the future of Huntersville and be capable of making tough choices to get there.
The first historical event that sticks out in my memory was when John Hinckley attempted to assassinate Ronald Reagan. I believe I was 10 at the time.
My first job was work at the A&W Family Restaurant in Pueblo, Colorado while I was in High School. I held that job for about 6 months before moving onto Hardee's.
