|From a government experience perspective, I have worked as a City Clerk, served on a Mecklenburg County advisory committee, done an internship at a state Capitol, worked at the Social Security Administration, U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Capitol Police. This means that I am no stranger to how government works, and I understand how interconnected government can be.
I attended Columbia College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration and computer information systems. I also have an associate degree in Philosophy and Humanities. I now have over 20 years of experience in the Information Technology field and, having spent the last 12 years as a consultant, I have a vast array of experience in several different industries such as; retail, finance, insurers, government, oil, and manufacturing. I will be able to use this experience to help businesses in our community understand what does and doesn't work to help them excel and better serve our community.
I look forward to serving the people and working to give Huntersville a better future.
- School overcrowding is a significant issue in our community. We need to address the root cause of this issue, which is the constant approval of more and more housing. I am working with CMS Candidates now so that when I am elected, I will have a good start on getting CMS to rescind the sanctions of the MCA and actively work with us to provide funding for new schools and improvements to our existing schools. I will remain open to all possible options to address this issue for the long term and will work with community leaders to identify innovative solutions.
- One of the first things I intend to do as Commissioner is to sit down with our newly formed 2040 plan committee and place an emphasis on identifying where our next business corridor is going to be and stop converting land that is currently zoned commercial into residential.
- Road construction will likely be a very painful process as we work to play catch up on our infrastructure needs. We need to work with NCDOT to limit the impact on our residents and businesses. We need to plan out the road improvements in such a manner that they are spread throughout the town and occur only at night. If you have one area of town where multiple projects are occurring, people will avoid that area and that could be very detrimental to businesses in that area. Also, we will need to limit the number projects occurring on multiple East - West or North - South arteries at the same time as it will make everyone want to avoid Huntersville altogether.
