Lance Trover was the press secretary for North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum's (R) 2024 presidential campaign. He formerly worked as communications director for Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner (R). He was named Communications Director in January 2015, after serving on Rauner's campaign staff in 2014. Prior to joining Rauner's campaign, Trover worked as Deputy Communications Director for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, as Communications Director for U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), and as Spokesman for the Illinois Republican Party.

Career

As early as January 2008, Trover was spokesman for the Illinois Republican Party.[1] In 2010, he served on Mark Kirk's campaign for United States Senate, in which Kirk defeated then Illinois State Treasuer defeated Alexander "Alexi" Giannoulias (D). Trover later worked in Kirk's Washington D.C. office as Communications Director.[2] In 2012, Trover worked as Deputy Communications Director for the National Republican Senatorial Committee in addition to working for Kirk and the Illinois Republican Party.[3] In January 2015, Trover was named to the Board of Counselors for the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.[4]

In January 2014, Republican Bruce Rauner brought Trover aboard his campaign as a Senior Communications Advisor.[5] In January 2015, Rauner announced that Trover would join his staff as Communications Director.[6] Trover left his position in Rauner's administration in July 2017. He worked as a communications consultant for Tusk Strategies from 2017 to 2019.[7] In 2023, Trover joined North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum's (R) 2024 presidential campaign as national press secretary.[8]
