Outside of work, I have dedicated my time to working with the Hays County Bar Association as a Board Director and the Scheib Opportunity Center as a past board Chair.
When not working or volunteering, I spend time with my husband and beautiful daughter traveling, reading, and supporting the Dallas Cowboys, Texas A&M Aggies, and Texas State Bobcats.- The Hays County Criminal District Attorney's Office must focus on our diversion courts and programs. Since 2022, we have invested heavily in the mental health court, our pretrial diversion program, and our low-level DWI diversion program. Going forward, we must double down on diversion by investing additional resources into mental health services, substance abuse treatment, and capacity for all of our diversion programs.
- At the same time that we double down on diversion, we must focus prosecutorial resources on the prosecution of egregious crimes, such as crimes against children and other particularly vulnerable victims. Since 2022, we have started a Family Justice Unit, that specifically works to improve the investigation and prosecution of child sexual abuse and high-risk intimate partner violence cases. We must continue to focus our resources on areas like this to ensure that our community remains safe.
- Hays County is growing exponentially. At the same time, resources to run county operations are not growing at the same pace. As such, we must be able to effectively level up the operations of the DA's Office with limited resources. We have been able to do this by expanding our positions through the use of grant opportunities and outside-the-box state resources. At the same time, we are leveling up our technology infrastructure by investing in new programs designed to more effectively manage cases.
