Candidate Connection

Lane J. Winters participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on April 7, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Lane J. Winters' responses follow below.[1]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1) Stop taking money away from public schools

2) Support effective treatment programs
3) Stand against Right to Work[2][3]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

I oppose Right to Work because I know the negative impact it will have on working Ohioan's. I oppose cuts to Medicare because the elderly and disabled deserve proper care.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[3]

Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Lane J. Winters answered the following:

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Important characteristics for an elected official would be honesty, integrity, and honor.[3]
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I am not a politician. I was handed nothing in life. Everything I have I have fought and worked hard for. I understand what the average citizen struggles with, because I am an average citizen. I am a hard working laborer that provides for my family by the sweat of my brow.[3]
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
To not lose touch with your neighbors. Don't forget about the people that voted for you to become a public servant.[3]
What legacy would you like to leave?
I want my legacy to be one of a man that was honest, transparent, and worked for the people because I am one of the people.[3]
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
My first job was Burger King. I don't remember exactly how old I was, but I do remember having to get a work permit from my school guidance counselor to get the job.[3]
What is your favorite holiday? Why?
I love Christmas. I love the cheer and the love that the holiday brings. I enjoy Christmas decorations, celebrating Jesus, and giving gifts away.[3]
What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?
My favorite thing in my home is my wife and 5 children. Without them, it's wouldn't be a home.[3]
What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?
The opioid epidemic. It contributes to death, and crime. We need to treat people with addiction and take it seriously.[3]
