Lange Luntao was a member of the Stockton Unified School District school board in California, representing Area 4. Luntao assumed office in 2016. Luntao left office on December 11, 2020.

Luntao ran for re-election to the Stockton Unified School District school board to represent Area 4 in California. Luntao lost in the general election on November 3, 2020.

Luntao's professional experience includes working as an early college educator for the Aspire Langston Hughes Academy. He began working there in 2014. He previously served as a Fulbright Fellow teaching English in Malaysia and as a program assistant for the International Medical Corps. Luntao also worked as an intern with the MacArthur Foundation's Institute of Politics.[1]

Luntao has served as board secretary of the San Joaquin Community Action Board, as a board member and after-school educator for the Little Manila Foundation, and as a cross country coach and student council advisor for the Aspire Langston Hughes Academy. Luntao co-founded the South Stockton Schools Initiative and the Fair Harvard Fund. While in high school, he served as a student member of the Lincoln Unified School Board. Luntao earned a bachelor's degree in social studies from Harvard University in 2012 and a teaching credential from Loyola Marymount University in 2015.[1]

Three of the seven seats on the Stockton Unified School District Board of Education were up for by-district general election on November 8, 2016. Five newcomers filed for the Trustee Area 1 seat that was left open due to term limits: Berniece Spivey Bass, Cecilia Mendez, Jennifer Kuan, Ramiro Reyes, and Minerva Garcia. Mendez won election to the seat. In Trustee Area 3, board incumbent Kathleen Garcia defeated challengers Alicia Rico, Martin Rodriguez, and Ytzel Gonzalez Arroyo to win another term. Four newcomers—Lange Luntao, Carmen Garcia, Douglas Vigil, and Regina Varela—ran for the open Trustee Area 4 seat, and Luntao won the election.[2][3][4]

Luntao reported $36,519.92 in contributions and $28,817.42 in expenditures to the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters, which left Luntao's campaign with $7,702.50 on hand as of October 22, 2016.[5]

Luntao was endorsed by the San Joaquin County Democratic Party, the Stockton Record, and the community organization Evolve.[6][7][8]
