|Throughout his career in education, Lanny worked to implement programs based on his firm belief that every student can succeed when given equitable resources. He spearheaded projects to better track student behavior, conducted research on reducing drop-out rates, and led intervention teams to support struggling students.
While working in Houston's public schools, Lanny earned his MBA from Rice University, leading him down his next career path as an entrepreneur. He created the education app Cardstock which helps translate communications between teachers and non-English speaking families. Since 2015, teachers have used Cardstock to communicate with families over 2.5 million times.
Lanny is a Teach For America alumnus, and he still works with the organization every summer, training the next generation of classroom leaders. Lanny has a strong track record of being a hands-on problem solver. He is committed to finding solutions for Houston and he'll continue his commitment in the Texas Legislature.- Fully fund public schools and pay teachers what they're worth.
