Overview

This measure was designed to authorize the district to issue $129.7 million. District officials estimated the bond issue would require a tax of $0.58 per $1,000 in assessed value. Property is assessed for tax purposes at half the market value. District officials stated that the tax would replace existing property taxes for bonds that have been repaid and would not increase the total property tax rate for district residents.[1]

The district's plan for using the bond revenue included:[1]

  • Four New School Buildings - Lewton, Mt. Hope, Sheridan Rd., and Willow
  • Air conditioning and HVAC system improvements for all schools
  • Renovation of the J.W. Sexton High School

District voters approved a $120 million bond issue measure in 2016 and a $7.7 million sinking fund measure in 2019.[1]
