I am a person who cares about this country and where it's heading. I'm a businessman entrepreneur with a good head on my shoulders and I can think outside the box. I believe in the 4C's Christianity, conservatism, capitalism and constitutionalism.

I believe in term limits and abolishing the lobbyist and money paid to our representatives campaigns.

Isn't a shame on our system of government that we talk in terms of money rather than character, honesty, morals, experience, beliefs when it comes to our politics. "When money and not God determines who we as a people elect to represent us in governing ourselves, that government will eventually fail". You can quote me on that.

Everything about me is on my website at LarryGuyHammond.com.

My life is an open book with transparency times 100... all of my beliefs, personal and on the issues and my goals are outlined throughout my website, Facebook posts and Twitter feeds.

I promise I will work hard for you... and only you. If I don't do what I promise you can freely tar and feather me from Washington D.C. back to South Carolina.
  • Term Limits for all elected representatives
  • Campaign reform ... Limiting lobbyist monies paid to candidates and elected representatives
  • We need unity in this country, we are so divided as a people.
Eliminating money in politics, with term limits for all representatives. The longer our representatives are in office the more money they take in and the richer they get on our dime . Term Limits will never happen if we don't get the monies out of politics all together.

The whole system starts to fall apart, The representative becomes a slave to that money and the lobbyist and they become bought and paid for. This should never happen. The representative works for you and nobody else. I will be sure that I only work for you and only you. You were the ones that elected me not the lobbyist, not the corporations, not the PACs and definitely not the parties!

If I don't do the job you can tar and feather me from Washington back to South Carolina.
Thomas Jefferson ... He was a very intelligent man! A great thinker outside of the box. He knew what needed to be written ... at just 33 years old he drafted the Declaration of Independence. He did so much for our country: a founding father, a revolutionist, an ambassador, two terms as President... He understood history, lessons from God and the nature of man, both good and evil. He said, "My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government." -- Thomas Jefferson, We need to learn from him ... what is not to admire?

He put his life on the line and making up the document we call the Declaration of Independence and if you think about it he would've been the first one to be hung if we would have lost to the British. Now, that is called courage! Sacrifice before self !
You can learn all about me from my wife's book series ... "His Road Trip". Its about our lives the ups and downs you experience and what you learn about yourselves along the way. An Amazing Adventure Across America Available at Amazon. A personal look of our lives and our beliefs. A book series about our travels, 43,500 miles to all 49 states by road and 10 Providences of Canada . HisRoadTrip.com
I believe in the 4C's , Christianity, conservatism , capitalism and constitutionalism. I also believe less government is a better. I believe in states rights. As well as balancing the budget.

To work for the constituents. When making the decisions look at all of the outcomes and make the decision that the majority of the people would have you make based on your belief structure.
That I did make a difference.
9 years old, 4th grade ... the Assassination of President Kennedy. I remember asking my mom ... what about John Jr. and Caroline--who would take care of them if their father died. I remembering being profoundly heartbroken, watching the funeral procession on TV in our classroom.
At 14 years old I worked at Skyline chili in Milford, Ohio outside Cincinnati, busboy and Dishwasher after two months I got fired because I ate too much. Then, I started a job at IGA, a supermarket as a bag-boy and stock clerk, in Milford Ohio and I stayed with that job until I graduated college, over 8 years. I then returned several years later and became a Co-Manager.

I also worked on a farm bailing hay and putting tobacco up. Hardest work I have ever done!
Bible first

My Wife's book, "His Road Trip."
SkyKing ... You may not even know who he was, but that series was the reason I became a pilot. I loved that saturday morning show. A rancher and his adventures with his plane.
Wonderful Life by Louie Armstrong

This song says it all ... If I hear it, it will be in my mind for days.
Dealing with the accidental death of my 6 year old son, Bobby. Although it was over 30 years ago, I have to keep remembering to trust in God and He will get me through it.
Our country doesn't run by itself. The government is not them or they, it is US! We have to have people in place to help it along so no one can ever take our freedoms away. We are a civilized society (well, most of the time) that needs leaders to write and change the laws as we grow as a country to protect us from others and each other.

The executive branch leads the country. The judicial branch rules on the laws, made in Congress. The legislative branch is the backbone of our country. It's 535 members make policy and laws that affect us all.

A member of Congress needs to be of good character, morals, distinguished, a true gentleman in the sense, and he/she must also be approachable and take care of business for his constituents. A leader of the country.

1. Being a Good Listener 2. Think Outside of the Box 3. A Problem Solver 4. Being Able to Adapt Quickly to Change 5. a Fast Learner 6. Honesty, Admit When You're Wrong 7. Learn From Your Mistakes
No I don't.

I think a congressman or woman should have life experiences to bring to Congress as his/her experience. A person who has been in politics their entire life doesn't really bring much to the table to help understand what the people need. They can not relate to their constituents.

If that were the case we would never get new ideas or new ways to do things. It takes experience from living life and common sense.
Trying to keep us united, like in the United States. We are so divided as a Nation and so angry at each other from all sides. People can say anything they want on TV, social media, or to your face without consequence. One person's complaint can remove a monument or religious symbol, even though everyone else wants to keep it. The rights of a single person are taking precedence over the majority. This is our country. If you as a foreigner are offended by something, then go home. What right would I have to visit someone else's country and expect them to change everything for me? This is America. To sum it up, God only sees one color. We are all in this together. We are one Nation under God, indivisible, But, yet we are divided. And we need to fix it.

The division in our country is going to be our downfall, we are going to implode from within. I feel the deep state is real and it needs to be addressed. Abraham Lincoln warned us about this, 150 years ago. The threat from within is far greater than the threat coming from overseas.

Also, The younger generation has to be educated as to what actually is socialism and communism. I feel the liberal educational system has let our kids down in teaching them about the types of government. Our government doesn't make or sell anything . Its only source of income is from taxes. There is no FREE lunch, someone always has to pay the bill.

We have to take back our own manufacturing and jobs from China and elsewhere in the world. Especially our medicines and food . We have sold out to China and that has to stop, we have to reverse that trend. Bring our manufacturing jobs back to our own country. The way we do it is "Buy American".

We have to put pressure on China to clean up their environment, their sanitation, their slaughtering of meats in open markets called wet markets. All the viruses that we've had that affect the world are coming out of China and we have got to put a stop to. Our very lives are at risk.

I would like to see two year terms as it is now but the most I would think a representative to serve is 3 to 4 terms no more.

Term limits is a must.
As I said ... I am for term limits and I have signed a pledge to remove myself from office after 3 terms. That's if I'm elected for those terms. We have to stop elected officials from getting comfortable in the power, influence and money of their offices. The lobbyists say they have to "buy" an office every 6 years. The money has to stop. PAC's have to stop. Donations from Companies have to stop. No one should be able to "buy" a representative.
Thomas Jefferson ... but really, I am my own man... I am not part of the elite of the party, past or present. I am an "outsider" . I am not part of the "Good Old Boy" system of government.
A lady came up to me and was frightened about sharia law coming to South Carolina and that really scared me as well thinking that a person in our country with the freedoms we have would be so scared of sharia law coming to our state. I assured her that if I was elected that would never happen.

Candidate Connection

Larry Guy Hammond participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on March 19, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Larry Guy Hammond's responses follow below.[2]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1) Wealth & Opportunites

2) Education
3) Infrastructure[3][4]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

Immigration Reform ... Protecting the nation's borders—land, air, and sea—from the illegal entry of people, weapons, drugs, and contraband is vital to our homeland security, as well as economic prosperity. We have done a poor job in securing our borders. So, how does this effect South Carolina since we don’t have a border with another country? People coming across the border from border states, aren’t just staying along the borders, they are traveling to all points across our nation. Some are just people looking for a better future in America. But, some are here to harm us, as terrorists, or to pander their drugs to our kids, or commit crimes against Americans. I say, “Let anyone come to America but come to our country legally and assimilate into our society”. I am for any way to secure the border first. I support building the wall, to stop the inflow of the undocumented. As for the “Dreamers” and other people here already living with us, it’s a huge grey area. My recent national travels have changed my position. I have looked into the eyes of mothers whose illegal husbands had been deported. I have heard their desperation. I would support an amnesty program ONLY for individuals and families that can prove they are earning or willing to earn their keep. Can they contribute to society, or have they been arrested for a crime of any kind? They must fill out appropriate paperwork and prove their desire to become an American. The criminals and undesirables must be sent back, according to the law. One last thought … Companies that hire undocumented workers are just as guilty in breaking the law the as the undocumented are. They are contributing to the mess. We must hold them accountable to circumventing the hiring of American workers for cheaper labor with the undocumented. It is illegal to hire illegals.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[4]

Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Larry Guy Hammond answered the following:

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Thomas Jefferson ... He was a very intelligent man! A great thinker outside of the box. He knew what needed to be written ... at just 33 years old he drafted the Declaration of Independence. He did so much for our country: a founding father, a revolutionist, an ambassador, two terms as President... He understood history, lessons from God and the nature of man, both good and evil. He said, ""My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."" -- Thomas Jefferson We need to learn from him ... what is not to admire?[4]

What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?
Our country doesn't run by itself. The government is not them or they, it is US! We have to have people in place to help it along so no one can ever take our freedoms away. We are a civilized society (well, most of the time) that needs leaders to write and change the laws as we grow as a country to protect us from others and each other.[4]
Do you believe that it’s beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?
No, I do not. If that were the case we would never get new ideas or new ways to do things. It takes experience from living life and common sense.[4]
What do you perceive to be the United States’ greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
Trying to keep us united, like in the United States. We are so divided as a Nation and so angry at each other from all sides. People can say anything they want on TV, social media, or to your face without consequence. One person’s complaint can remove a monument or religious symbol, even though everyone else wants to keep it. The rights of a single person are taking precedence over the majority. This is our country. If you as a foreigner are offended by something, then go home. What right would I have to visit someone else's country and expect them to change everything for me? What are your thoughts on term limits?
As I said ... I am for term limits and I have signed a pledge to remove myself from office after 3 terms. That's if I'm elected for those terms. We have to stop elected officials from getting comfortable in the power, influence and money of their offices. The lobbyists say they have to ""buy"" an office every 6 years. The money has to stop. PAC's have to stop. Donations from Companies have to stop. No one should be able to ""buy"" a leader.[4]

If you are not currently a member of your party’s leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives, would you be interested in joining the leadership? If so, in what role?
I first want to do the work of the people. We need lots of issues resolved. I may consider it in my last term, but to start I need to allocate my time in getting the people's work done first.[4]
Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?
Not really, I am my own man... I am not part of the elite of the party, past or present.[4]
Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?
A lady just the other day told me she is so fearful of Sharia law. She told me to view videos of Dearborn, Mi... I did and I was shocked as to what is going on there. We have the Constitution to protect us from Sharia law, but only to the point of that whoever believes in Sharia law doesn't get into power within our own country. If they do, they can change our laws. I reassured her by having her learn about who she is voting for. Vote wisely and VOTE! Dearborn, Mi ... could be nearer to your city than you think.[4]
