Larry Puccio is a lobbyist and political consultant in West Virginia. He worked as chief of staff for Senator Joe Manchin III (D) when Manchin was West Virginia Secretary of State and Governor of West Virginia from 2001 to 2010. Puccio also served as chair of the Democratic Party of West Virginia from 2010 to 2015.
Career
Larry Puccio has worked with West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin III (D) in several capacities over the years. First, Puccio was Manchin's chief of staff when Manchin was West Virginia Secretary of State from 2001 to 2005. When Manchin was elected Governor of West Virginia in 2005, Puccio remained his chief of staff.[1]
In 2010, Puccio resigned from Gov. Manchin's office and became a lobbyist in the state. He appears on the lists of registered lobbyists published by the West Virginia Ethics Commission in 2010, 2012 and 2014. As a lobbyist, he has represented clients such as Anheuser-Busch Inc, Greenbrier Resort Hotel and the Southern Coal Corporation.[1][2][3][4]
Puccio was elected chairman of the Democratic Party of West Virginia in June 2010. In 2013, Campaigns & Elections named Puccio a top Democratic Party influencer in West Virginia. He worked for the state party until he resigned to become the chair of Sen. Manchin's Country Roads PAC in 2015.[1][5][6][7]
When West Virginia entrepreneur Jim Justice announced his candidacy for the 2016 West Virginia gubernatorial election in May 2015, Puccio became one of his campaign consultants. Puccio worked previously as a lobbyist for Justice since the gubernatorial candidate is the owner of The Greenbrier Resort.[8][9]
